Chapter 19

"Since I don't have any personal rivals , and something like this has never happened to me before I married you, The person must be related to you." Serena was very sure.

"Mm, Smart are you. The person is one of my rivals."

"Do you have evidence against that person?" She asked looking at him.

"That person is very merciless." Ethan adjusted his sleeves, showing no signs of his injury. "After that car was stopped, my men couldn't even get close to it before the police appeared and took the driver away. We just received word that he died from an injury halfway through."

"He should have made plans beforehand. It didn't matter if he succeeded or not because the driver wouldn't have survived." Ethan got up from the couch and walked to the balcony of the VIP ward. He looked at the blue sky and white clouds in Wen City.Serena looked at his strong physique. Sometimes, she felt that Ethan wasn't who he seemed to be. On the contrary, there was a sense of maturity about him that did not match his age. She could not understand him at all. What was he thinking?

Silence ensued.

Actually, she could be discharged. Neither of them needed to be hospitalized. But for some reason, nobody said they were leaving.

"Oh, right." Ethan suddenly turned around, and sunlight shone on his face. At that moment, Serena felt like he was very far away. He was so far away that she could barely touch him.

Why did this man always give others an out-of-reach wrong impression of him?

"Since the injury is because of me, I deeply apologized." Ethan said directly.

"..." Serena was shocked.

"I am sorry, But don't worry I will take care of that person so he won't target us again." Ethan said. 

"Oh..okay?" Serena asked blinking her huge watery eyes at him.

Ethan looked at her for a while then said, "Is it paining a lot?."

"It's alright, not much." Serena asked closing her eyes.

Ethan smiled. "You are a strong girl, It is particularly your first time encountering something like this but you are still so composed, I admire it."

"..." This world was full of wonders.

Ethan entered from the balcony and stood before her. While sitting on the hospital bed, she looked up at him as he towered over her, appearing stern. The next moment, he sat by her bed.

She looked at him with her eyes wide open...

Ethan smiled nonchalantly and then lifted her chin with his left hand. He slowly said, "Can I kiss you now?"

She was stunned. Ethan used his left hand to pull her face closer.

She furrowed her brows and eyed him cautiously. She thought about turning him down every second, but in the end, She just looked at him being stunned, waiting for his next move.

"I'm just kidding," Ethan said as he suddenly got off the bed and then walked toward the door. 

"Why do you always do this?" Serena asked aggrievedly.

"What?" Ethan asked innocently.

"First, You seduce me then you say that, you were just kidding. Do you think it's funny? You don't even apologize!" Serena asked glaring at him.

"Oh so it means, You are seduced by me." Ethan asked playfully.

"it's not only me, Anyone can be misled and be seduced by your actions and words." 

"Really? Anyone? But I have never been seduced by anyone in my entire life." He said proudly.

"Oh really?" Serena said with a scoff not believing his words.

"This is truth. You know I can never be seduced by anyone." Ethan said smugly.

"Should we make a bet then? You will apologize to me If I succeed in seducing you. Do you dare?" Serena challenged him.

"This is easy because I know you are going to lose." Ethan said as a matter of fact.

"Really? Then why don't we try?" She challenged him again.

"Okay, it's going to be fun to make you lose." Ethan said with a smug grin and left the ward.

Serena watched dumbfounded as Ethan left. What was this man thinking!

I will definitely succeed! This is about my pride, I have to win.

How baffling.

Just as she was feeling unhappy, her cell phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and picked it up. The sound of the door closing made her subconsciously move her phone further away.

"Boss, Are you okay? I heard from Mr. Ethan that you were in a car accident, and he said that you are going to work from home for next few days." Louis asked worriedly.

"Don't worry, It is not that sever. And yes, I would also like to work from home for some next days, You can mail me all the important documents and concerns, I will go through them." 

"Okay, Boss." 

"Thanks, Louis. Bye."

"Bye."

Serena hung up and fell silent as her thoughts wandered. 

"What are you thinking about?" Ethan suddenly asked and handed her a bottle of a strawberry juice.

A little shocked, she furrowed her brows unhappily, "How do you know I like strawberry juice?" 

"Well, I just know from your secretary, Drink it." Ethan said urging her to drink.

Serena looked at him strangely then slowly drank the strawberry juice which was indeed tasty and fresh, She felt rejuvenated.

 Ethan pursed his lips and said "Then, let's get discharged."

Serena got off the bed. Henry and Nick were already waiting at the entrance. Nick's injuries were evidently more serious than hers, but he still looked at her with respect. They left the hospital and got into the black car.

The car arrived at the entrance of the his  villa very soon. Serena got off without stopping. Nick followed after her. The two of them vanished from their sight.

"Let's go," Ethan said.

Henry started the car and drove off.

"Henry, I need you to do something, We are going to wipe off that bastard's mafia group.."

"Okay."

"Alright, I understand what you mean. I'll get someone to do it. After all, besides the underworld, we have a lot of people on the good side." Henry nodded in agreement, "In this way, We won't get our hands dirty."

Ethan looked ahead silently.

Henry looked at him in the rearview mirror and said, "You went to drive the truck yourself today because you were afraid something would go wrong? It was so dangerous back then. Moreover, in order to save Serena, you missed the opportunity to take the driver away first...You were worried about Serena...You...Do you like her?"

"Henry." Ethan interrupted him. "I just don't think Serena should die so soon, specially not when it is not her mistake."

"..." Only a ghost would believe that.

Ethan changed the topic. "I'll leave the preparations to you."

"Okay."

Silence ensued.
