It was midnight.

Jiayi found herself practicing with her blades in an abandoned alley. Suddenly, she heard noises that caught her attention.

"Who in their right sense would come here at such an hour?" she wondered silently.

"Oh right! Me." she mentally laughed at her answering her own question.

Curiosity piqued, she hid behind a wall and cautiously peeked out. To her surprise, she saw three men, one of whom seemed familiar. Recognition dawned on her—this man was her previous adversary from just a few hours ago.

"Are you sure it was a girl?" a voice questioned the man she had encountered earlier.

"I'm sure it was," he replied confidently.

"But how did she outrun you? And how did she manage to injure you?" inquired the third man, clearly perplexed.

"I don't know," the man admitted, frustration evident in his voice. "But she was undeniably skilled and experienced. She effortlessly leaped over a high wall as if it were nothing."

Engrossed in their conversation, the three men continued to discuss the mysterious encounter. Jiayi's mind raced with questions.

"Shit! Why are they here?", she whispered to herself.

'I need to escape before they catch me,' she thought urgently. Determined not to be captured, she swiftly left the alley, quietly slipping away into the night.

As Jiayi made her way home, she stumbled upon a distressing scene—a group of men mercilessly beating a boy who appeared to be around her age. The sight filled her with anger and compassion.

"Hey! Stop!" she shouted, unable to ignore the injustice unfolding before her eyes.

The men turned their attention towards the source of the interruption. Upon realizing that it was a girl who dared to challenge them, they grinned maliciously.

"What's a girl like you gonna do, huh?" one of the men sneered, underestimating Jiayi based on her gender.

Their taunts only fueled her fury. Without a second thought, she hurled one of her blades directly at the man who had spoken, striking him in the throat.

'Dead' she whispered to herself, smirking behind her mask.

The remaining men, witnessing the swift and deadly accuracy of her attack, were overtaken by fear and fled from the scene.

Jiayi swiftly disposed of the man's body, ensuring no trace of her involvement remained. She was relieved that her face was concealed, preventing anyone from easily recognizing her.

Turning her attention to the injured boy, Jiayi offered her assistance. Though his face was partially obscured by a mask, he seemed vaguely familiar to her.

She suggested taking him to his home, a proposal that he hesitated but agreed to after a while.

They made their way towards his residence, which turned out to be a grand mansion. Jiayi couldn't help but be taken aback by the opulence of the place.

Arriving at the front door, she pressed the doorbell, her heart pounding with anticipation.

'I'm dead if I get caught' she thought, heart beating faster than usual and she patiently waited for someone to answer, unsure of what awaited them on the other side.

After a few minutes that seemed to stretch into an eternity, the door creaked open, revealing a boy who looked older than her with an air of authority.

His gaze fell upon Jiayi and the injured boy, his eyes widened with concern.

"My goodness! What happened to him?" He exclaimed, quickly stepping aside to allow them entry.

Jiayi hurriedly explained the circumstances, giving a concise account of the attack she had witnessed, except the part where she threw a blade at a man.

The male listened intently, his expression shifting from worry to gratitude.

"Thank you for helping him," he said, his voice filled with genuine appreciation.

Relieved that they were met with understanding, Jiayi nodded in acknowledgement.

"It was the right thing to do," she replied, her voice tinged with determination. "I think he needs medical attention."

"Please make yourselves at home. I'll call someone to check up on him right away," he assured them.

"No it's okay. I'll head home."Jiayi kindly denied the offer. She couldn't take the risk of anyone recognising her.

"I understand" the man nodded.

He walked Jiayi to the door before calling her. He gave a weak smile, gratitude shining in his eyes.

"Once again, thanks for helping him." he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"It was nothing." Jiayi replied modestly, though a sense of pride swelled within her.

"Be careful on your way." He said, voiced laced with concern.

"I will. Thank you." Jiayi replied.

On her way home, Jiayi couldn't shake off the feeling that she had seen him before,

'the boy looked familiar! Where have I seen him?' she thought, wrecking her mind to remember it.

The mystery of his identity gnawed at her, but for now, her primary concern was her identity. She almost got caught.

'I need to be careful now. I'll be dead if Renjun finds out about all these.' The thoughts raced in her mind.

After walking for somewhat 20 minutes, she reached the apartment. The elevator wasn't working and the fact that the flat was on the 5th floor, she was definitely not happy.

'gotta waste 10 more minutes to reach'
