[What you look like] - Pic up top

[Who you are] - You are Veralyn Briggs. Younger sister to Jacqui Briggs, daughter to Jax and Vera Briggs. Close friends with the Cage family.

[Your powers] - No powers. Only gadgets.

[Context] - You train with people so you can be good enough to enroll in the special forces. You want to be a fighter like Jacqui. You are 16 years old.

"Again!" My older sister, Jacqui, ordered as she charged at me.

She was helping me train, so, one day, I could join the army with her, our dad, and the Cage family. She's been training me since I was 12 years old, so 4 years. I'm confident that I've become a great fighter just like her.

Back to the fight, she tried to punch me but I dodged it and kicked the back of her knees, making her fall forward. I did a front flip over her, stealing her guns from their place in their holsters in the process. She quickly got up and got back into the fighting stance. She reached for her guns, then looked up in confusion when she couldn't feel them. She looked at me as I, tauntingly, waved her guns in front of her face and threw them to the ground behind me.

She chuckled, "Clever. I see you finally learning."

"Only because I have the best teacher," I shrugged.

"Shall we continue?" She asked.

"Not right now, girls," the voice of Johnny Cage interrupted us, "Veralyn, I want you to come to see the soldiers."

"Really? Why?" I asked as I approached him.

"Your dad, my wife, and I were watching you fight and we think you're getting closer and closer to joining the special forces. We want you to spend a day with Cassie, Jacqui, and the rest of the soldiers to make sure this is what you want to do."

"Right now?"

"Yup! Come on."

Jacqui and I followed Johnny back to headquarters where everyone was. Once we entered the building, I immediately spotted Sonya and jogged over to her.

"Hi, Sonya!" I greeted, cheerfully.

"Hey, Veralyn," she smiled and hugged me, "you excited?"

"I'm more nervous than excited. You seem like a tough commander."

"I am. And in 2 or 3 years, you'll be dealing with the toughest commander in the world. You can go and sit by that big screen over there while I get the soldiers ready."

I nodded and did as she told me. I looked around to see everyone doing their job, talking to each other, or reloading weapons. From across the room, I saw Takeda, Jacqui's boyfriend, speaking to his father, Kenshi.

I looked down for a moment to check the time on my phone, and when I looked up, I saw Takeda pointing at me. Kenshi turned in my direction, and then he and Takeda walked to me.

I smiled once they stood in front of me, "Hi, Takeda! Hi, Kenshi."

"Hello, young Briggs soldier," Kenshi greeted.

"What are you doing here?" Takeda asked, "Aren't you a little young to be a soldier, Veralyn?"

"Yeah," I shrugged, "But Johnny and Sonya want me to come and see the soldiers train and fight. They want me to make sure this is what I want to do."

"Is it?" Kenshi asked, "Veralyn, you are certain of the risk you take when you join special forces, correct?"

"Yes, I know. But ever since I was 12 and Jacqui was 18, every time I watched her and the soldiers fight, I realized how many lives they were saving. And I want to be a part of that. I realize the risk, I realize the struggle, I just want to help. I want to defend the place I know and love."

"And with that attitude, you will," I heard Sonya speak from behind me, "when we first asked those soldiers why they enrolled for the special forces, they didn't say anything as bold and powerful as you did. You are what we have been looking for, for years. Go stand with the soldiers, Veralyn."

I nodded excitedly then went to stand next to Jacqui. She bent down to reach my ear and whispered to me, "I heard what you and Sonya said. I am so proud of you."

I smiled brightly at what she said. I was about to reply, but Sonya appeared in front of us and started speaking, "Good afternoon, soldiers. Today I have had the honor of having Jacqui's sister, Veralyn Briggs, come and see what being a part of special forces is like. We will treat her like how we treat each other: with respect and like family. Now... shall we show her what we can do?"

After that introduction, Sonya led us threw drills. We exercised and trained, and now, we are on break. I was tired and my limbs ached. All I wanted was to find my sister. I walked around asking if anyone had seen her, but no one had been helpful. Giving up, I sat in the lounge area next to Kenshi.

I decided to ask him what I'd been asking everyone else, "Kenshi, have you seen my sister?"

"Your sister?" He asked for clarification, "She, Cassie, Takeda, and Kung Jin went to the corner store not too long ago. They should be back soon."

I sighed in relief, "Thank you for being the only helpful person here."

He chuckled in amusement, "How's working with the Special Forces? Is it all you've been hoping for?"

"Yes! It's all I've been dreaming of and more. I've learned five new moves that I can use in Kombat in 30 minutes. Sonya's a great leader."

"She is. You all are very lucky to be fighting with her. Look- they're back."

I turned to see Kung Jin, Cassie, Takeda, and Jacqui enter headquarters. The boys had plastic bags in their hands. Once they spotted me, they approached me.

"Hey, Veralyn," Cassie greeted me as she hugged me.

"Hey, guys," I smiled, "What's in the bag?"

"I got you snacks," Jacqui told me, "don't eat them all today. This is supposed to last the whole week."

I thanked her as Kung Jin moved my snacks into a bag separate from everyone else's snacks. I took a candy bar out of the bag and started eating it.

It was finally the end of the day, and Dad, Jacqui, and I were walking home. I was limping since Jacqui accidentally tripped me while we were training with each other. I sprained my ankle and was ordered by Sonya to stay off my feet until the pain became bearable.

"How's your ankle?" My dad asked, "It hurts a lot, but I'll be fine."

"Veralyn, I'm so sorry-" Jacqui tried to apologize, but I cut her off.

"You bought me my favorite snacks, apology accepted," I smiled, "besides, I need to get used to the pain. I need to learn to walk it off and fight until the battle ends."

"When did my baby sister become so wise?" Jacqui teased.

"I'm not a baby, Jacqui. They don't let babies into the Special Forces."

She smiled, proudly, "Well, get ready for tomorrow. You and I will be working on your aim. I'll give you my old guns."

"What about those wrist things you have?"

"My electronic gauntlets? Yeah, you're not ready for those. Let's stick to guns for now."

"Okay. Thank you, Jacqui."

"No need to thank me, Veralyn. It's what sisters do."
