Chapter Fourteen – That Life-Changing Moment

Kensi had been nauseous for a few days now, mostly just in the morning but occasionally in the afternoon and each time; Deeks was there to comfort her and hold her hair.

"Good God make it stop!" She groaned at five in the morning as she was curled around the toilet bowl once again.

Deeks rubbed circles on her back and kissed her head. "I wish I could. Do you think it was something you ate when we went out the other night?" He looked at her.

She shrugged and leaned back against the wall. "That's gotta be it..." She nodded weakly and felt the urge to throw up rise once again, but passed as quickly as it had come.

"C'mon, let's go back to bed." He whispered and picked her sick body up in his arms, carrying her back to bed.

Lean on me! When you're not strong, and I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on. For, it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need, somebody to lean on.

Kensi was up before Deeks that morning and since she was staying home until she got better, she walked into the kitchen and grabbed some crackers from the pantry.

As she was leaning against the counter, the calendar on the fridge caught her eye. She turned towards it and flipped back through the previous months, seeing her little red x's on every month prior, except for this month.

She put the package of crackers down and ran into the bathroom, rummaging through the drawers until she found what she needed.

Two minutes later she ran into the bedroom. "Deeks I'm late!" She said in pure horror, a cold sheen of sweat was visible on her forehead.

"Okay! I'll shower first and you can put down the toast, while I'm getting ready you can shower and I'll finish making coffee and breakfast! We'll eat in the car! Where am I driving?" He sat up and looked around quickly.

Kensi paused for a minute and couldn't help but laugh. "Okay then..." She walked over and sat down beside him, handing him the small blue stick. "I'm late Deeks..." She whispered.

The smile that spread across Deeks' face made Kensi start to smile. "Seriously? I'm not just dreaming?" He whispered, and wrapped his arm around Kensi.

"No, you're not dreaming. Both were the same result... Deeks we're going to have a baby." Kensi smiled and laid her head on his shoulder.

Deeks stood up and pulled Kensi into a hug, spinning her around. "Kensi Blye, you keep making me the happiest man in the world." He smiled and set her on her feet.

'Cause we belong together now, yeah! Forever united here somehow, yeah! You've got a piece of me, and honestly! My life would suck without you.

After one of the latest cases, the team decided they would go out for dinner. Everyone was drinking champagne, except for Kensi.

"Come on Kens; have a little bit of champagne... please?" Callen held the bottle out.

"Callen, I can't... I'm going to have to be the one to drive Deeks home." She smirked and looked over at him.

"One drink Kensi come on!" Sam chimed in and Kensi looked at Deeks once again.

"I can't drink." She persisted.

All of them stared at her as if to say 'why' and she shook her head laughing. "I can't because I'm pregnant." She smiled over at Deeks and the whole team started cheering.

"Well, more water over here my good man, we must make a toast!" Hetty declared and the waiter filled Kensi's glass and she smiled to him.

"I'd like to propose a toast. To being the best team I've worked with in my entire career, to the families we deal with everyday and to Kensi and Deeks who are starting a family of their own." Hetty smiled as they all tapped their glasses together.

After dinner, Deeks and Kensi were lying on their bed and Deeks' hand was on Kensi's stomach. "I can't believe we're going to be a family." He smiled happily.

"I'm so glad you're happy about this. I was afraid you were going to just..." Kensi trailed off and turned her head away from Deeks.

Well, Deeks promptly turned her head back to him. "I would never leave Kensi. Some situations are better off being faced together rather than alone Kens. I'm not leaving." He kissed her cheek softly and pulled her closer.

"You mean that?" She smiled and looked up at him, her eyes filling with hope.

"Of course I mean that." He kissed her head and reached over her, grabbing a small black box out of the drawer.

Standing, he pulled Kensi into a sitting position and looked up at her. "Don't think that I got this just because of the baby. I've had it for a month now. Kensi, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I can't see myself with anyone but you. So, if you'll let me; I'd like to be your husband. Kensi Blye, will you marry me?" He held up the now open box and smiled.

Kensi's jaw dropped a little as she looked at Deeks. "Only if you'll have me as your wife. Marty Deeks, I will marry you." She smiled and nodded, tears forming in her eyes.

He smiled and slid the ring on her finger and stood up, pressing his lips to hers. "I love you Kensi." He murmured.

"I love you more Deeks." She breathed, wrapping her arms around his neck.

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend. Lucky to have been where I have been. Lucky to be coming home again. Lucky we're in love in every way. Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed. Lucky to be coming home someday.
