Chapter Eighteen – Finally Here

Kensi was a few days away from her due date so she was just relaxing at home while Deeks was at work. "Ugh I hate this." She groaned.

"Hate what?" She heard a familiar voice from behind her.

Kensi swivelled on her heel to see Agent Paris Summerskill standing there with Callen. "Agent Paris." She smiled and walked over to hug her.

"How have you been Kensi?" She smiled and sat down with her on the couch. The two had become pretty good friends because they were part of the minority along with Nell and the other agent on Paris' team.

"Well you know... I've been spending the last two weeks sitting at home. What are you doing here?" She smiled as Callen came and sat with them.

She looked over at Callen and then back at Kensi. "Well Hetty pulled some strings and while my team is taking a break, I'm going to be working with your team while you're on maternity leave." She smiled.

"Wow, I definitely couldn't have picked a better person then. Callen, watch your back, you may have some competition." Kensi smirked.

They all shared a laugh and then Callen stood up. "Sorry Kens, we've gotta run. But I hear Hetty's letting Deeks stay home with you for the next few days." He smiled.

"Seriously? Oh that is amazing, do you know when he'll be home?" She smiled brightly.

Before Callen could say anything the door swung open and in stepped Deeks. "Hi honey I'm home." He laughed and walked over to her, kissing her head.

"Well, I hope you two don't get too bored." Paris smiled. "We'll see you later." She gave Kensi one last hug and they left.

"I'm so glad you're home!" She smiled and hugged him. "Now we can finish getting the room ready." Kensi headed down the hall and opened the door to find the room was already completed.

"You know you're a pretty heavy sleeper, so I had the team come over here and help me last night after you went to bed early..." Deeks smiled.

Kensi was just completely speechless. The room was a pale green with fairy lights hung all the way around it. The furniture was white and placed strategically throughout the room. "Deeks... this is..." She felt her eyes fill with happy tears. "This is perfect." She turned to him and smiled.

You lift my feet off the ground. You spin me around. You make me crazier, crazier. Feels like I'm falling and I, am lost in your eyes. You make me crazier, crazier, crazier.

Kensi had now been in labour for twelve hours now and the team was sitting in the room with her, despite the rules about only having Deeks with her.

"Kensi, just breathe. Breathe baby I know it hurts." Deeks whispered into her sweat-sodden hair and rubbed her arms.

"Shut up Deeks." She snapped and laid back on the bed as the doctors came in.

They looked over to where Callen, Paris, Sam, Eric, Nell and Hetty were and then at Kensi and Deeks. "It's time for you to push Mrs. Deeks."

Kensi looked terrified and each member of the team had a hand on her arm while Deeks squeezed her hand.

Half an hour a high-pitched cry filled the room and everyone was smiling. "Congratulations, it's a girl." The nurse smiled and cleaned off the baby, swaddling it in a blanket and placing a little pink hat on her head.

She walked back over to Kensi and Deeks and handed Kensi the tiny girl. Her cries had subsided and now she was just making adorable little faces.

"What are you going to name her?" Sam smiled and looked at the three of them.

Kensi and Deeks shared a look and he nodded. Kensi looked at the baby in her arms and then the team. "Her name is Allison Paris Deeks." She smiled directly to Paris who's eyes were filling with tears.

"Do you guys wanna hold her?" Kensi looked at them and Paris stepped forward.

She looked at Kensi then Deeks. "May I?" She smiled softly.

"Of course." She nodded and placed Allison in Paris' arms.

They say that good things take time. But really great things happen in the blink of an eye. Thought the chances to meet somebody like you were a million to one. I can't believe it, whoa oh. You're one in a million. All this time I was looking for love, trying to make things work, that weren't good enough, 'til I thought I'm through, said I'm done and stumbled into the arms of the one.

Later that night, when the rest of the team was getting food, Paris came back and knocked on the door. "Kensi?" She poked her head in.

"Hey Paris, what's up?" She smiled, rocking Allison back and forth in her arms.

She sat beside the bed and looked at her hands. "I just wanted to thank you... I mean her middle name is my name, but why?" She tilted her head to the side.

"Well... she's going to be strong like us, and witty like Deeks... and I just wanted her to have the name of one of her Godmother's who may not always be there, but she's still there you know?" Kensi smiled.

Paris felt the tears sting her eyes again and smiled softly. "Kensi, you're one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. Don't let that go." She put her hand on Kensi's arm and smiled wider.

"Just promise you'll keep in touch? We'll send emails and photos..." Kensi smiled and got up, laying Allison down in the bassinet.

She nodded and stood up, walking over to Kensi she hugged her tight. "Thank you again." She whispered.

You're still there for me, wherever there might be. And if an ocean lies between us, I'll send a message across the sea. That you can sleep tonight, knowing it's alright. I believe that you are listening to my song. You're with me, you've been here all along.

Finally, Kensi and Deeks were able to bring Ali home and when they got there it was a relief. "Hey baby girl, this is your home. Let's go see your room." Deeks smiled and carried his daughter into the room.

Kensi stayed behind to put away her bag and grabbed an energy bar along with a glass of water.

From the room, she could hear Deeks' laughter and that made her go see what was going on. She stepped inside the room and smiled. "Hey you two." She sat with them on the floor and watched Deeks interact with her.

"You're amazing with kids." She whispered when she noticed Ali had drifted into a little dream world. "She has one of the best families I could ever want for our child."

"Somethings are just meant to be Kens. Like you and me. Callen and Paris, even Nell and Eric. But all of us together are a family." He pointed out and he couldn't be more right.

As he laid her down in her crib, he placed the small teddy bear beside her and then wrapped his arms around Kensi's waist. "Family." She smiled and they watched as their tiny daughter wander through her own mind, not caring about what was going on outside her head.

Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound.
