💌⏰ Pocky! (slightly ft. Nene)

(Yes I am aware that Pocky Day exists and it may've made more sense to write this then, but I'll write it now so I don't forget yk. Also I'm guessing you can all guess where this is going)

(Gosh this is going to be embarrassing to write,,,)

A gentle Spring breeze blows past the pair as Rui and Tsukasa sit on a patch of grass somewhere in the school plaza. Cherry blossom petals dance through the air and create a... Strangely romantic atmosphere?

Rui reaches his hand into a small box with an illustration of some sort of edible stick printed onto it. He pulls out said stick, and places the end of it into his mouth before starting to chew it.

"Huh... Why does Rui look so cute like that...? Wait, did I really just think that?! Gosh..." Tsukasa thinks to himself, a slight red tinge spreading across his face due to his thoughts. He clears his throat, and covers his face slightly in hopes of hiding his blush. It isn't working very well...

"Hmm?" Rui turns to face the blushing blond boy, and chuckles slightly at the sight of his flushed face. He decides to keep his mouth shut for now, though. "What's the matter, Tsukasa-kun?"

"Oh, uh... What is that... Stick, that you're eating?" Tsukasa questions, his head tilting slightly to the side in confusion. His blush fades a little.

"Ah, this?" He points to the 'stick'. "This is a pocky! They're quite delicious, and very sweet. Want one?" Rui pulls out another pocky stick and offers it to Tsukasa with a sweet smile on his face, and the pocky still sticking out of his mouth.

"Oh, umm... Sure." Tsukasa cautiously takes the piece of pocky, inspecting it to make sure that Rui didn't poison it or something. He's pretty sure he didn't, but you never know with this guy. After a moment of hesitation, he pops it into he mouth and takes a bite. He finishes swallowing the piece before he speaks again.

"Not bad." Tsukasa isn't exactly a sweet-tooth like Rui, but he enjoys the snack nonetheless. He smiles back at Rui, getting a little bit too lost in his eyes. He soon realises that he's staring at the purple-haired boy, and hastily turns away.

About a minute of silence passes between the two boys before Rui speaks up, a mischievous smirk on his face.

"Hey, Tsukasa-kun. What do you say we play a game?" He turns to the star with his signature smirk.

"... Sure. As long as I don't blow up, or anything like that." Tsukasa states bluntly, giving Rui a sceptical glare. He knows that mischievous expression all too well...

"Hehe, don't worry, you're in safe hands, Tsukasa-kun!" Rui replies. Tsukasa isn't so sure, but he decides to trust Rui. He can't bring himself to say no to that face of his, anyways...

(Here it comes folks)

Rui places another pocky stick into his mouth, before facing a very confused and cautious Tsukasa.

"What exactly... Is this 'game' you speak of, Rui...?" Tsukasa's eyes narrow in suspicion as he continues glaring at Rui.

"Hehe, you'll see. Just bite the other end of the pocky, okay?" He winks at the blond boy, causing him to flush lightly as he does as requested, albeit a bit doubtfully.

"Uhmm... What now...?" Tsukasa's voice is a little muffled, as he speaks through his teeth which hold onto the pocky stick. He can't help his cheeks to remain a slight red due to the proximity between him and Rui... It's not like a pocky stick is that long, after all.

"Wait and see. Hehe..." Rui mutters playfully, taking a small bite of the pocky stick forward.

"R-Rui, you are aware of... Our proximity, yes?" Tsukasa's voice sounds much more audibly flustered now, as even he struggles to mask his true embarrassment with his usual overconfidence.

"... Hehe." All that Rui replies with is a mischievous chuckle. "Your turn, Tsukasa-kun." He gestures for him to take a bite himself.

Groaning in embarrassment, Tsukasa scans the area around him for any people, before he decides he may as well take a bite. He does so, finding himself closer and closer to his 'best friend' every 2 seconds... What exactly is this 'game' that Rui requested to play? And why hasn't he told Tsukasa the rules...? What are his motives here...

(You can't spell fruity without 'rui')

Before he knows it, Tsukasa finds himself nose-to-nose with Rui. His face is a deep shade of scarlet by now, and... Is that some slight blush on Rui's face as well...? His eyes are sparkling, too... Both of them inch forward ever so slightly, nervous to move much closer.

"Is he not going to stop biting the pocky...? That's what anyone else would do in this situation, right...? Ahh... I didn't expect him to stick with this for so long..." Rui's expression softens as he realises he might have accidentally gotten himself into a... Romantic situation with Tsukasa. Not that he minds, of course...

"... Rui...? Are you alright...?" Tsukasa's expression also softens as he notices how nervous Rui is all of a sudden. The two of them stay nose-to-nose, looking rather... Lovingly into each other's eyes.

"Ah... I'm fine, Tsukasa-kun. Don't worry, hehe..." Rui manages to whisper. He quickly checks for any surrounding people like how Tsukasa did earlier, before he gestures to the tiny amount of remaining pocky, as if requesting whether he can make the move...

This is when it finally seems to click for Tsukasa. His face flushes red once more, and he freezes in shock for a moment. He certainly doesn't want to say no... But what if someone walks by right when the two of them are...? Nervously, Tsukasa nods. This feels so surreal... For the both of them.

They both shut their eyes before leaning in, the remaining piece of pocky being consumed at some point. The 'best friends' share a short yet sweet and wholesome kiss! Tsukasa quickly pulls away after a couple of seconds in fear that someone might pass by and tease the two of them. He rubs his face, as if trying to rub the blush away - which obviously doesn't work - and chuckles nervously yet happily.

"H-hahah... Umm... R-Rui, did we just...?"

"Yes, yes we did, Ts-Tsukasa-kun... Hehe..."

The two boys scratch the backs of their heads in bashfulness, before turning back to each other and smiling lovingly. Rui slips his hand over Tsukasa's and gently holds it, caressing the back of his hand with his thumb.

"... I love you, Tsukasa-kun."

"I love you too, Rui."

Tsukasa shuffles closer to Rui and rests his head on top of his shoulder. Rui rests his own head on top of Tsukasa's in response.

Tsukasa walks clumsily through the school hallways, carrying a rather clingy Rui bridal-style in his arms. Nene passes by, and glares at the couple with a deadpan stare.

"... What the heck are you two doing."

"H-hey, don't look at me...! Rui insisted on this..."

Meanwhile, Rui seems to not notice Nene, and instead has his arms wrapped around Tsukasa's shoulders as he rests his head against him.

"Hehehe..." He chuckles contently, a dreamy grin on his face.
