chapter 9: antlers

"Isaac, you can help Aura with the weekly supplies." Thomas said, every week we get new supplies from the well. "Good luck." Gabe laughed. Aura was a 15 year old gorgeous girl with very long legs, which made her a little bit clumsy. We started walking towards the well.

"It's beautiful, isn't it." Aura said, she pointed out the trees, she was fascinated by nature. "Yes it is." I said. We got to the well there was a big crate inside the well bucket, we pulled the crate out of the bucket. It was too heavy to carry it on your own, so we divided the supplies and left the crate at the well. I handed Aura a box of cereal and she dropped it, but I catched it and let it float back to her. "Oh my God! Oh yeah, I am sorry I forgot about your telekinesis." Aura said, she grabbed the box.

We finaly got back to the house in 20 minutes, after Aura dropped her supplies 5 times. We gave the supplies to Talia and Beam, who put it in the kitchen and the cupboard. Aura took off her shoes. "Aura, what are you doing?" I asked, she pulled herself up into a tree. "I am climbing in a tree." She said and she sat down onto one of the branches, searching for a new one to get up. "Why?" I asked. "Because I like trees."
"Please be careful, you're very clumsy you could fall." I said worried. "I am not going to fall, don't worry." Aura stood up onto the branch and grabbed the one above her, I heard it snap and Aura screamed. Aura fell down and she hit the ground hard, she didn't make sound untill the branch fell on her face. "Ouch." She cried. "Aura are you okay?" I asked, no answer. "Aura?" Still nothing. I kneeled down next to her and picked up the branch from her face her eyes were closed, she was having a flashback. I got Talia and Thomas.

Later she opened her eyes and sat up. "What happend?" Aura asked. "You fell out of a tree and a branch fell on top of you." I explained. "I had a flashback with a lot landscapes and trees and volcanos." Aura said, I helped her to get up. She wobbled a bit with her legs, but than she found balance and she could walk normally. When she walked her bare feet made the grass grow, she looked over her shoulders. "Oh my God! What! What is happening?" She started running. "Aura stay calm." Talia said. "No! Get it away from me!" She yelled, she ran into a tree and fell down, again. Why is she so clumsy? The grass around her grew so high, we couldn't see her anymore. "I think you have nature powers." Talia said. "Take it back! I don't want it! Oh my God, there is something on my head! Get it off, of me!" Aura cried. Talia pulled away some of the grass and started laughing. "Why are you laughing?" Aura got up and now I could see why Talia was laughing, Thomas and I started laughing too. "Why are you laughing?" She asked again, she walked inside, a trail of grass following her. "Oh my God, why?" We heard from inside, which made us laugh even more. "No, no. Why? Why me?" Aura came out of the door and pointed at her head. "This is so unfair! You two with that weird telekenisis." she pointed at Talia and me. "You look like normal people, and me? No, I have to look weird! Even Gabe looks more normal with his extremely white hair and 2 missing fingers, but I have to have freaking antlers on my head!" Aura yelled, she pointed at the antlers on her head. "What is going on? Why is there grass inside the house?" Grace stood in the doorway, she saw Aura and started laughing too. "Stop laughing! This isn't funny!" Aura yelled, she was really mad. The ground started shaking and sharp rocks shot out of the ground. "Is this an earthquake?" I yelled over the loud rumbling sound of the shaking ground, Talia nodded. "Aura, you need to calm down." Talia yelled. "I can't control it." Aura cried. The tree next to Talia fell down. "Talia watch out!" I cried. Thomas ran towards her and pushed her away from the tree, before it hit the ground. He pinned her down on the ground, he covered her head with his hands and her body with his body. "Aura, concentrate." I walked towards her and grabbed her wrists, forcing her to close her hands. "Concentrate." I whispered, she closed her eyes. Slowly the ground stopped shaking and Aura opened her eyes again, I let her go. "What the hell Aura?" Grace came out of the doorway. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to do that." Aura said. "Wait, you did that? And why do you have antlers on your head?" Gabe came out of the house. He looked at the tree and than at Talia who was still on the ground, he didn't worry about Aura anymore, but ran towards Talia. Everyone came outside and Thomas quickly told everyone what happend, while I was helping Aura to calm down.

Aura was very stressed and had a hard time trying to control her new powers, so we decided to do a couple of tests to see where her powers actually came from. We let her walk on grass, which created more grass and we let her touch trees, which created mushrooms and moss to grow. Talia tried to let her focus on her anger to create another earthquake, but she couldn't do it.

Now I sat alone outside, asking myself questions. Why did the whole power thing started after Talia arrived? Why won't she tell more about what happend before she got here? Why won't she tell me about our family? What happend to them? But tomorrow is a new day, I will ask her again. I got up and walked inside to sleep.
