the sun was so clear it looked straight out of a Ghibli movie , the sun not too hot and the breeze made the trees flutter, looking like a mosaic of green above peoples heads.
'ice cream?' Chan nudged Felix gently. 'yes please!' the younger replied with a smile. as they walked, their hands brushed against each other. Chan looked up, making eye contact with Felix, a massive grin on his face as he intertwined their fingers. before Felix could say anything, there was a small yet mighty voice that screamed, piercing through the harbor. "APPAAAAAAAAAAA I WANT ICE CREAM, JIGUEM!!!" a little girl with two dark pigtails sprinted across the grassy landscaping, onto the pavements, back and forth, her father chasing her, clasping his back. 'Aishhh, that girl.'
the two subconsciously stopped, smiling at the scene. the little girl was so small, she barely reached above their knees, but god was she fast, almost bumping into the crowd of Sydney civilians at the front of a Baskin Robins stand. 'APPAaAaAaA!!!' her squeaky voice shook as she jumped up and down, pointing at the menu with a little finger. 'EUN SOOK! please, stop running away!' her father finally caught up to her, scooping her up. he gave her a kiss on her flushed cheek and patted down her hair then put her down. 'you want the chocolate one?' he asked, taking her little hand in his as they walked up to the counter. 'nae appa!' he covered her mouth with excitement, giggling as she watched the store lady scoop up two cones of chocolate ice cream.
'she's so cute, aye lix?' chan said fondly. 'yeah,' they go to sit on a bench overlooking the water. 'i'm a little bit scared.' felix sighed, leaning his head on chants shoulder. 'of what?' the older said thoughtfully. 'i dunno.. just growing up i guess.' chan nodded.
'i'm really happy right now, i have so much to be happy about. i have a job that i love and i have the boys and i have you and i have stay-' felix sighed again in awe of how lucky he was. 'i'm scared that it'll all go away. scared that one day ill wake up and i won't have you or my job or anyone anymore. that's the scariest thing ever.'
chan went to rub the youngers shoulder. 'minho will never leave you, jisung will never leave you, bin will never leave you, hyune will never ever ever leave you, seungmin will never leave you, jeongin will never leave you. you know that right? stay would never leave you. and the most important thing is that i'll never leave you.'
'i know. but i'm still scared.'
'and that's okay, it's okay to be scared. hell, i'm scared of so many things.' chan turned a little, so did felix, they looked at each other for a brief moment. wordlessly, chan leaned forward and placed an ever-so-gentle kiss on felix's forehead. 'anything else you need to get off your chest?'
the younger nodded, closing his eyes and taking a breath of the fresh, salty Sydney air. 'i don't know when i'll love someone. i want to love someone that i can trust with everything. someone to grow with as a person. i don't know anything yet. i don't even know if i want to marry a woman or a man. i don't know if i want kids. i don't know how to raise kids, hell i'm barely getting by on my own.'
chan couldn't help but smile. 'i get that. but you're young, felix. you've got your whole entire life ahead of you. you have plenty of time to figure it all out. things will fall into place in good time. like this. at twelve years old i knew i wanted to be a singer but i was scared i wouldn't know how. now i'm here. i may not know what i'll be doing in the future but i'm taking things in little steps.'
'you're the best, Channie. honestly.'
felix enveloped the older in a hug, warm and still as they sat under the sky, overlooking the ocean.
