"She was free in her wildness. She was a wanderess, a drop of free water. She belonged to no man and to no city."― Roman Payne, The Wanderess
My lips part when she says that and as I'm about to attempt to respond, Aliyah grabs my hand and leads me down a small hallway. She knocks softly before whispering against the door, "Shawn, it's me. Open the door." Her tone is soft and caring, and I can tell she's trying not to scare him. His door opens slowly and he looks down at his little sister before looking back up (not much up but up) to see me. I give him a soft smile before he pulls me into the room gently and kisses the girl's cheek.
"Thanks, Lee." He closes the door behind him after that and looks over at me with lowered eyes. "What are you doing here? You should be laying in bed, sleeping and dreaming of beautiful things."
"I was walking around and it was about to rain so I came here. I didn't know where else to go except home."
"You came here instead of going home. Isn't your house empty?" I nod and sit on the edge of his bed. "Why here?"
I think to myself for a moment and shrug. "I don't know. Maybe I feel safer here."
"Honey, you're always safe here."
There you go! Double update. Go me! Just high-fived myself. Anyway, I think I'm going to start writing all throughout the week instead of one night on a random day. Maybe then the chapters will be longer and stuff. Well I had work today and I'm super tired so I'm going to bed now. Nighty night. Sweet dreams.
All the love -K. Xx
