will you wait for me?

Will you wait for me?

Will you wait for me,
Till I know how to
Pluck your weeds out of you,
And water your weary soul
And let your lungs fill with blossoms?
Till then I will gift you wild flowers
And say they remind me of you.

Will you wait for me?
Till I learn how to
Tame the darkness that surround you,
Make it my home
And help you glow in the midst of it all?

Will you wait for me?
Till I finally find the right words
To write you a love letter?
Or maybe you could wait longer,
Till I memorise all the creaks in your soul
And stay by your side,
So I don't have to write any letters to you.

Until then, let's waltz to your favourite songs,
Under star-laden, moon-graced skies
Will you wait for me?
Till I pave a path,
Through all this gritty grime
And these cursed cruel cobblestones
Tugging at a million strings
And reach your heart?

Wait for me till I reach your soul,
And devise a way to inhale it.

Until then,
Lets keep worshipping the skin that cradles the soul I adore
(Hush! We're too young for this…)
Lets keep whisking through the puzzle pieces,
Lets keep writing our chapters, long and short
Lets keep switching our tunes, high and low
   Till we finally fit-
Like violin strings ricocheting a lost lover's lore.
Like a burnt child carrying her firewood,
Lets keep stoking this fire,
Till it doesn't burn in candle flames anymore,
Till it can't be doused nor contained-
Till the waters can't touch us anymore.
And we burn for each other forevermore.

Maybe with the flicker of time,
Like waves of the sea and moonsoon winds
And early spring blossoms,
You'd be my lover.

Or simply my arsonist.
