Chapter Twelve

Behind every untrusting girl is a boy who lied, cheated, and broke his promises to her.

When Jen's dad stopped the car, I saw that we were outside a beautiful two-story navy blue house. "Home sweet home." Jen muttered before turning to me. "Regan, Steve. Steve, Regan." Jen introduced me.to her dad. "You can call me Reggie." I replied, checking the time on my phone. Glad I grabbed my charger. I noticed the battery was at 5%. "You're gonna be staying with us, in the guest bedroom accross the hall from me." Jen said, getting out the car. I rushed out the car and ran in vamp speed to the door and looked back at Jen, who rolled her eyes, then to Steve who had an awed look. "It really is you." I mused, unlocking the door. "What do you mean?" I ask, following him and Jen upstairs.

"About seventeen years ago, I had to cloak a baby girl to hide her vampire and fae half. I was good friends with her father, rhe baby's mother died giving birth to her, the father felt he couldn't raise her do he had me cloak her and left her on someone's doorstep." Steve explained, staring into my eyes intently. "How do you know it's me? Was my dad vampire or fae? What was he like? What was my mom like?" I started firing questions at him as we stopped in front of a door. "Because you have his eyes, he is vampire, he was a troublemaker, your mom was a rebel." Steve explained, opening the door to reveal a room with a queen size bed and three doors. One door led to a walk in closet, another led to a bathroom, and the third went outside onto a balcony, thete was also a plain white, three drawer dresser.

"You'll be staying here, how about we take you shopping so you will have clothes to wear. You start school Monday." Steve said, closing the door and leading me back downstairs."Dad, tomorrow is Monday." Jen said, eating her bag of chips and handimg me mine. "Exactly, also you can decorate your room however you want. It's just me and Jen since her mother divorced me about a year ago." Steve replied, leading me back outside, rhis time I got in the passenger seat. When Jen gave me a playful glare, I stuck out my tongue at her before smiling very childishly.

We ended up going to hot topic where I bought several band tees, then we went to Target where I bought jeggings, ripped skinny jeans, normal skinny jeans, bras, panties, socks, and a batman T-shirt. I also bought a pair of black and white converse, blue and white checkered vans, black combat boots, and purple nike torch 4's. Satisfied, we went back to my new home until I finish this supernatural school. I don't want to go because I don't really like new people, but at the same time I do becaue I want to learn and I'm very curious.

Once I had all my clothes put away, Steve showed me around the house. The last place we went to was the basement. I didn't want to go down there, even though Claire and Blake kept me down there just to make sure I couldn't use my power. I think it would've been easier to just kill me, but either they're too stupid or they had other plans for me. "I don't wanna go down there." I argued, letting him her my distress. "Why? It's just a basement." He replied.

"I was held prisoner in a basement for a little over four years, I just escaped today, with Jen's help." I said, seeing the lightbulb above his head turn on. "Right. While you were putting away your clothes, I enrolled you at the school. They know you're fae and believe you're half human and that you grew up human." Steve informed me as I walked into the living room. "How did your vampire come uncloaked?" Steve asked.

Gonna have to tell him sooner or later anyways. "Well, me and one of my best friends were walking to her house after school, and these two rapists stopped next to us. I was scared but when I saw one of them trying to take off Amy's clothes, I went from scared to pissed off. I didn't even know what was happening rxcept that I was faster and stronget, I knocked one guy out and drank from the other until he passed out." I told him, flipping through the channels trying to push the images out of my mind.

"Interesting, so you turned to protect your friend? I know a way to get your fae side to come out then. I won't try it until I think you can handle it though." Steve said, spiking my curiousity. I looked at my phone and saw it was nearly twelve in the morning. We had already reconnected it with a different number and on the same plan as Steve and Jen. "I should be getting to bed." I announced before jumping up and running full speed into my new room. I made sure the bathroom door was locked before I jumped into the shower.

Quickly I washed my face, hair, and body before getting out and putting on a t shirt and a pair of shorts. I blow dryed my hair and dove onto my bed. Just when I put my phone on charge and was half asleep, I remembered I didn't know what time to wake up. I decided to walk to Jen's room to save energy. I knocked quietly on her door. "Yes?" Jen asked, before yawning. "What time do I need to wake up tomorrow?" I asked, getting straight to the point. "Well, depends how long does it take fot you to get ready?" Jen asked, as.I yawned this time. "Ten minutes." I said, knowing it would be five if I didn't do my hair or make up. "Ten minutes? Well school starts at eight amd it's a five minute drve so we leave six minute before which makes it 7:56, and breakfast is done at 7:50, so about 7:40." Jen calculated in her head. Well damn. "Okay thanks." I replied, turning around and going back to my room, I set my alarm and fell asleep. I set my alarm about thirty minutes early, because Steve asked me to.
