Moments Five

Instead of going to Aaliyah's house as planned we went to her Aunt's house in PV to spend a night. Her aunt's house outside looked small, but going in it was massive. The living room was huge with orange-painted walls, large plush-comfy denim sofas, and an almost movie theater sized-TV. The kitchen was island styled with brown tiles and walls. The room me and Aaliyah would be staying in was a light green color with two twins sized beds with purple comforters. The room was fairly big enough for me and Aaliyah.

I collapsed on the bed and waited till Aaliyah came back with the morning after pill. She comes back with the pill and a glass of water.

"Here," she hands me the pill and water.

I swallow the pill with the water.

"You know there's going to be side effect," Aaliyah adds.

I shrugged my shoulders, "As long as I don't get pregnant I'm fine."

In the next two hours I begin to start feeling nausea and then I vomited in the nearby restroom as Aaliyah held back my hair. It was so embarrassing.

Then, to make matters worse Aaliyah's aunt begins to start knocking at the door.

"Girls," Aaliyah's aunt called, "You guys alright in there?"

Aaliyah answered, "Auntie, Samphany is just a little sick. She ate something bad at lunch today. You know how school be giving us bad food."

"Oh ok," She replied, "Samphany, baby girl, I'm going to make you some tea for your stomach."

I'm so thankful her aunt leaves, so I can vomit without an audience.

My stomach relaxes after I drink the tea Aaliyah's aunt makes for me.

"Thank you," I said, as I sip on the last bit of the tea.

"No problem," she assures, "Goodnight, girls.

"Goodnight," we said in unison.

We traveled back into the room, and sat on the bed. Aaliyah had something real important for me to know about.

Aaliyah said, "Okay, so you know that I and Jacob broke up last year?"

"Yeah," I said back.

"Well... I invited him to the party because we've sorta worked out our differences for the past four months and will get back together when he transfers to AEE from Narbonne," she explained.

I remember Jacob Payne; he has chocolate skin, brown eyes, and wide lips. He was your average Black boy, and he was a pain not only to me, but Aaliyah, as well.

"Are you sure about getting back with him?" I asked.

"Positive," Aaliyah reassured, "He's changed. Even though he lied to me about smoking weed and dating another girl he's regretful. We were together for two years before all that bullshit went down when we were in 9th grade. I just know I love him. Didn't you feel a strong emotion before you had sex with Ryan?"

I answered, "Yes, I did."

Her eyes closed, "I just want to be right about this. I don't want to be cheated on ever again, nor lied to a million times like before. I mean you told me something wasn't right and I ignored your advice. Maybe I should rethink?"

I grabbed onto Aaliyah's shoulders, shaking her till her eyes opened, "If you're not ready to try this again don't, but if you're willing to try again then by all means do it. It won't hurt if you never try, and it can hurt if you do try again. Either way, it's your choice. I just want whatever you want for you. Though, I will be honest about things with you when a nigga acts like shit towards you."
