it's odd how alexandra's first actual walk through shorhaven was on the day rain was pouring. it looked so right for her, it felt like the sky was crying over her destiny.
before she even knew it, she was walking by the sea, soaked wet, her hair was dripping. and there was no people around. nobody saw a tear rolling down her cheek as she was remembering what surfing felt like.
she lowered her body on a wet sand, staring at the water. rain was slowly stopping, but it was dark so the normally blue horizon she remembered was now pitch black. she closed her eyes, her head started to ache from all the memories this uncommon rainy day had brought back.
she was thirteen when she stopped surfing, and her best kind of surf was on the rain. sure, it was unsafe, but it was the best kind of surfing - an adrenaline rush you get while riding the waves triple your size, wet from head to toes before you even step a foot in the ocean. it felt amazing back then, but it feels so painful now.
her meditation broke when a deep voice spoke to her. couldn't he see in what condition thia girl was?
"you have a lighter?"
alexandra looked up and in front of her was a boy, she couldn't even see his face but by the sound of his voice and the way he said "lighter" she just knew he was not the kind of guy you want your daughter to mess with.
"do i look like i smoke?"
the silence between them would be awkward if he didn't move a little to the left and the moonlight lightened his face - he was smiling, smirking, actually. and his hair was dyed this cotton-candy pink color, his arms looked like he was visitiong gym at least twice a week and his jawlind was so sharp it could actually poke your eye out.
"you look like you could use a cigarette."
"i don't smoke."
"me neither."
he shoved the pack of cigarettes into his shorts' pocket, and alexandra thought he might leave. but, he lowered his body next to hers and didn't say a word. she couldn't but wonder was it awkward for him as it was for her.
"i'm baxter."
he must've read her thoughts, because she was about to ask him about his name just to break the silence.
"alexandra."
"i will call you alex."
"you will not call me at all."
