On the other hand, Faye seemed to have done cleaning when I turned to face her; she didn’t say anything else, but she was still glancing at me.

“Good.” She cleared her throat, sumisinghot na rin.

I was slowly looking at her. She was busy cleaning her mouth. I sighed.

Should I buy her food?

Argh.

You don’t need to feel sorry, Rome Wilson. It’s her fault. She hurt you. She left you. She replaced you.

Damn it. Ako? Pinagpalit sa matanda? That was embarrassing.

“Put it on my table and tell Thaliya to make a prototype of the new dishes so that I can taste it and make it official in the Restaurant before they release and sell it,” utos ko.

“Right away, sir.” I wasn’t looking at her, but the only indication that she was gone was the sound of her heels slowing down.

I hold a restaurant of my own. Even though I’m not very skilled in the kitchen, I taste the food before it’s served. I’m not a cook, but I do know how to taste.

There aren’t many meal options at that restaurant because it is very new—it has only been open for a year and a half. However, especially at night, that eatery is a favorite among the patrons. It is being crowded out.

My floating mind was cut off when a noisy person entered suddenly, we both stared at the entrance door. He was stunned when he saw the woman who abruptly wiped her tears at the side.

“Faye Reagon?” Xino clarified. Kaagad namang tumugon ang isa, as if they are close. “Wow! What a reunion, ha-ha!”

“Hello,” she answered to Xino. I rolled my eyes to avoid her shy gaze as she stared at me.

Alam niya si Xino. When she was my wife, the two of them became friends also.

Xino came over to me silently. He used his thumb to gesture backward to Faye.

Reklamo niya. “Pero bakit nga nandito na siya kaagad? Ganun mo ba siya kamiss para i-hired ‘yan right away?” Malokong dagdag niya.

“Excuse me? No more questions,” I cut his curiosity.

I rolled my eyes. “Alam mo nakakabwesit ka eh ‘no?
