They are lounging in Lisa's couch, Jennie sat in between the raven-haired girl's legs while she leans back as the other girl's arms wrapped around her waist, their fingers mindlessly playing with each other. They're on second episode of Bridezilla marathon when the raven-haired girl makes a comment offhandely that makes them realise something about their relationship.
"See, that's why am never getting married."
The smaller girl hums without thinking about it at first. It's late and she's sleepy and Lisa's ministrations on her fingers and her breath against are lulling her to sleep. When she gets around to what the girl's words mean, she furrows her eyebrows and stills her hands, turning slightly to face the girl behind her.
"Wait, what?"
"This is one of many reasons why I think marriage is overrated. You get lost in all the preparation and people lose sight of the true meaning of being in a relationship."
"You don't think that type of commitment is important though? Not everyone is a Bridezilla." The smaller girl replies, fully turning in her seat now so she can face the girl properly.
"Not really." The raven-haired girl replied. "I think you can show your commitment without a piece of paper making it official. I can show that I love someone and will commit to them, marriage certificate or not."
And tense, sort of awkward, air settles over them while Lisa's words play in Jennie's mind. "You don't ever want to get married." The brunette whispers, feeling as if the delicate situation calls for it.
"I don't really believe in it, Jennie. Married people seems miserable. Some just hide it better than others."
But every people who marries doesn't end up miserably. There are people who love and stay happily married, getting old. Jennie says desperately trying to change her view.
I've seen a lot of failed marriages including my own parents heck I haven't even saw any successful marriage so my believe in them ended pretty long time back. I can't ever see myself getting married." Lisa replies, finally catching on what the girl might be saying.
"I am not asking you to marry me right now, but.." the brunette replies with a sad chuckle. "I always thought I'd get married someday." She looks up to meet Lisa's eyes and they're swimming with insecurities, doubt and slightly panic. Jennie can feel her heart crack with every second of tense silence that passes by.
Lisa brings a hand to her hair and runs her fingers through it as she looks anywhere but the sad brown eyes. "I-I am sorry, Nini. I just, I don't really know-"
"It's okay." Jennie in trusts her gently, moving to stand up from Lisa's hold and the slight distance between them feels massive. Her eyes are downcast and her voice shaky when she speaks.
Lisa really should have known it was too good to last.
"Nini..." she doesn't know what she was really going to say, but this feels last lot like losing her grip on something she's been so dearly holding onto.
"I just need some time, okay?" the brunette gives her a watery smile. "I'll see you later." She hurriedly says as she leans down for a quick, chaste kiss and gathers her stuff. She's out of the apartment before Lisa has the chance to stop her and she doesn't know where this will take them.
They spend the night apart for the first time in eight months.

"Just give her time, Lis." Jisoo says reassuringly, rubbing at comforting hand on her friend's back while the raven-haired girl sulks against the kitchen table, her eyes trained on her phone in front of her.
