THE KILLER OF PRISONERS

'I''I''I''I''I''I'

CHARLOTTE SHOWED UP AT WORK TWO DAYS AFTER THE PHILIP DOWD CASE. When the team returned to Quantico, Hotchner insisted that Charlotte and Spencer take a few days off from work. Reid needed time to nurse his injuries and Winslow had to deal with her mind. It was just a little bit traumatic for her when she was on the job for three weeks but she knew that it made her stronger. She knew that in future she could face more traumatic situations. She knew it when she decided to join the FBI Academy. Charlotte Winslow could not lie that a few days off work helped her and she was grateful to have a boss like Aaron Hotchner who cared about his teammates.

" Hi! How are you? " Penelope Garcia was the first one to notice Charlotte in the bullpen and reach her. The dark-haired woman smiled when she saw her friend with a purple dress and the same colour high heels.

" Hi, I'm good, thanks. You? "

" I'm good. Oh, I've missed you, " Garcia smiled, hugging her new friend. Charlotte still could not believe that everyone in this team ( minus Reid ) was so friendly and accepted her as one of their own so fast. She never had that and it felt amazing to finally have people in her life who were her real friends. " Did you have a great time away from work? "

" Yeah, " Charlotte nodded and then she smiled again. " I adopted a kitten, " Penelope gasped loudly and her eyes started to shine with excitement. She made a few small happy jumps and Charlotte found a photo of her new pet on her phone. " I named her Kiki. "

" Oh my god! She's so cute! I want to petsit her when you're away, " Garcia looked at Charlotte with a wide smile on her face. Charlotte laughed happily and nodded, saying that her excited friend would be Kiki's petsitter when needed. Penelope hugged her friend one more time and happily jumped again.

Charlotte, Elle, Derek and Gideon gave their guns to the security guard and one by one went through the metal detector. When the team landed, Hotch, Reid and JJ went to the San Diego police department to talk with the captain and officers so the four of them were stuck with a task to go to San Diego's Metropolitan Correctional Center where murderers were happening. It held male and female prisoners of all security levels and someone was brutally killing inmates. SDPD needed help so this morning the case file appeared on JJ's desk, she showed it to Hotch and in thirty minutes the team was on the plane to San Diego.

The fact that MCC held inmates of all security levels was the agents' starting point. Numerous imprisoned serial killers in here were their first suspects so four profilers decided to start their investigation with the interviews. They needed to talk with all of them. The interviews will help them to rule out the inmates as suspects, build the profile and find the killer. Four agents, four interview rooms and 215 imprisoned serial killers equal a very long day in this Correctional Center.

" Hello, pretty lady, " the voice of the male reached her ears when she walked through the door. She glanced at her inmate number twelve, closed the door, put his case file on the table and sat down in front of him. Her face was serious and calm. She hid away all her fear and other emotions the prisoners could use against her. It was a thing she heard in the academy and the advice Gideon gave her. Charlotte did it and she had full control in the interview room.

" Agent Winslow, " she corrected the man in his forties with a bright orange uniform and cuffs around his wrists and ankles. " Mr Dawson, what can you tell me about the murders happening in here? "

" Well, someone is finally having fun in this place, " a sick smile made an appearance on his face and he put his handcuffed hands on the table. " I would do anything to get that ecstasy from the killing for one more time, " he said and moved his hands closer to Charlotte's. Not showing her discomfort, she took her hands away from the table, grabbing his case file. He let out a dark chuckle and leaned against the back of the chair.

" Mr Dawson, I'm going to ask one more time. What can you tell me about the murders happening here? Did you ever see anything suspicious or weird? "

" Listen, lady. People like me have one hour per day to leave cells and get fresh air. We don't use that time to find fellow prisoners and kill them.

After long eight hours spent in the interview rooms with the inmates, Charlotte met with her three colleagues near the exit. The four of them grabbed their belongings from the small security boxes and left the building. They needed to meet with the other teammates and discuss everything they were able to find out today. While driving to the San Diego police department, Charlotte, Elle, Derek and Gideon agreed on one thing - their UnSub was not a convicted serial killer.

" Oh, I love you! " Charlotte said when JJ greeted them with four cups of coffee. She grabbed one and took a sip, following JJ and her teammates to the department's briefing room where Hotch and Reid were waiting for them.

" What did you find out? "

" Well, " Charlotte started to speak, " our UnSub isn't a convicted serial killer even tho everything is happening in their sector. No other inmates have access there, only MCC personnel. The murders are staged to look like suicides. "

" Five prisoners mentioned a few night security guards who could be our suspects. They said that these guards work only night shifts and are very questionable people, " added Derek.

Unknown to them, one more murder was happening in San Diego's Metropolitan Correctional Center right now while they were sitting in the briefing room.
