Chapter Six: A Chance

I have three more days and I can return to Sonic again, hopefully that night will be like a dream to him, I want to see him badly I miss his warm touch...

"Shadow!" I looked up surprised seeing Silver running over to me, "what's wrong?" I said catching him as he held me tightly, "it's Knuckles! We-" Silver stopped hearing a loud bang from outside, I slowly pushed him aside hurrying out of the basement to one of the broken windows, I looked out seeing Knuckles he was holding his gun looking around, "he found out huh? Does that mean-" I turned to Silver who was sobbing. "I haven't see Rouge and he's been hunting me down!" Silver said grabbing me away from the window, I stared at him for a moment thinking of what to do.

I should kill Knuckles that's my only option, but Silver is going to be in my way. I sighed pulling Silver back to the basement, "just stay here okay?" I said patting his head, he shook his head about to protest but I closed the door locking him in. I walked out the building looking around seeing Knuckles suddenly gone, I looked around hoping to see him but he wasn't anywhere and the silence was uncomforting, I turned to the woods wandering inside hoping if I was obvious he'd follow me.  

It was quiet but for a moment I heard a shuffle in the bushes making me grab a stick and throw it, Knuckles jumped out with a shotgun and tried shooting me but I dodged, "how'd you find out?" I said walking around him like prey, "so you are really Shadow, the murder that's been going around." Knuckles growled angrily, "shouldn't act surprise when you knew it was me, I could tell the way you acted throughout that party how much you wanted to kill me then. Where's Rouge?" I hissed stopping behind him, he held his gun tightly staring at me ready to kill. "No you tell me where she is." Knuckles said turning and shooting his gun again, I moved out of the way confused as it shot through the tree. "You don't know?" I said confused.

"No! I know you took her," Knuckles said charging at me, I grabbed onto his shoulders pushing him back as he held the gun to my heart. "What do you mean? I haven't seen Rouge since she brought me here!" I snapped elbowing down hitting the gun so it shot the ground before punching his face. Knuckles backed up glaring at me.

"You healed me why!?" Knuckles said sounding conflicted on what's going on anymore, "I healed you? Rouge did, aren't you here to kill her and Silver?" I asked letting my guard down, Knuckles looked at me confused before groaning in pain, he held his hand to his head like he was having a headache. "You don't remember? Rouge was literally telling you she was happy you were okay? We didn't erase your memory so why-" Knuckles shot at me again, shooting through my arm. "Dammit!" I said jumping up into a tree, "where is Rouge?!" Knuckles asked again.

"I don't know! But if you aren't here to kill her-"

"Why would I?!" Knuckles said shooting at a random direction, I started jumping around the trees so he couldn't find me. "She's a vampire- she healed you that day even though I wanted you dead but she didn't want you to die." I explained sitting at a tree staring down at him. I watched him tremble gripping down on his gun, "no! I know it was you- you attacked me and then took Rouge." I rolled my eyes hearing him trying to make sense of it. "Knuckles, if you won't listen I'll have to kill you." I said jumping down, Knuckles was so focused on trying to remember he noticed me to late.

I grabbed him by the throat and pinned him on the ground, his gun flying out of his hands. "Rouge really loves you... And since you're a hunter I know you will try to kill her, I won't let you." I said gripping down, Knuckles stared up at me with anger trying to get free but I was stronger than him.

I've been drinking blood to regain my strength and the fact I got a hold of Sonic's made me twice as strong, I could break his neck this very instant but watching him die slowly is more entertaining. "R..Rouge.." Knuckles muttered, my heart sank seeing him tearing up. "Rouge.. I-.. I love you." I let go of his throat right away seeing I dug my nails into it slightly having his blood on my fingertips.
