Milana
We have been driving for a while, around 30 minutes have passed ever since our little incident, the blood on our clothes dry, the smell is beginning to be unbearable and the feeling of poking glass still there, I keep a steady conversation going with Julia, we haven't seen each other for a week! I tell her about our little adventures, the upgrades we managed to do to our 'base' and how we were planning on going out to find more of our friends to join us after we got the guns from my grandfather's place. Julia nodded her head in understanding as I continued to talk, her eyes always on the road, clearly she didn't want to repeat our mistake.
As we kept driving the streets became more familiar, the town we were in was in shambles, yet, I still can clearly tell where all the little shops were, it's amazing yet pretty terrifying how the world can go to shit in less that a week, mindless creatures roaming the streets, a few acknowledged our presence and started following the car..were they,,running? They can run now? It's only logical that their bodies were still stable enough to run, as I watch them fade away in the distance, still determined to catch up to us I can only hope that they will all rot before they get to us.
The town was pretty small, only a 10 minute drive and we were already in a more excluded area, more farmhouses and large plots of land, we were all surprised to see sheep and cows still roaming around and eating grass like whatever is going on in the world right now doesn't affect them, oh to be a sheep eating grass with my other sheep friends right now.
As we got closer to our destination I noticed more traps placed on the road, dangerously sharp sticks poking out of the ground, cars scattered on the road, clearly there to slow down a large hoard of zombies, we were impressed, Julia was always the smart type so it's only expected of her to be one step ahead of us.
Oliwia
I listened to Milana's and Julia's conversation as I look out the window, looking at all the trap's scattered around, there was no way she could've done this all alone, right? There has to be someone else with her. As I feel the car slow down I lean over to the girls at the front.
"So, this the place?"
I ask, it was a nice looking house, you know your stereotypical wooden like farm house, I could see a large shed poking out from behind it, perhaps instead of going back to our base we could move everything here, it's bigger, in an excluded area, meaning probably less zombies, and that shed! It's way bigger than what we have back home, we could upgrade it, make it in to a second base or a hideout in case of emergencies! Feeling Milana move beside me I look over and see she's nodding her head.
"Yup, my grandfathers farm house, used to love this place as a kid, I'm glad it's still in such good condition"
She said as I hum in agreement, honestly I was expecting it to also be in shambles like the rest of the town, I mean, the houses we saw on the way here didn't look the best either so it's only natural that we're pleasantly surprised to see its condition.
Noticing that Julia already made her way out of the car we all decided to follow her lead and do so too, we weren't gonna sit around in the car all day and do nothing after all, we gotta explore the area, get familiar with it.
"So, you all alone or what?"
I ask as curiosity got the better of me, jogging up to her to walk the small distance to the front door beside her.
"At the time all this started I was with nanette"
I nod my head as awkward silence engulfed us, I was expecting her to continue on, did nannette die!? Was she eaten!? My mind is running 100 miles an hour, I could feel my heartbeat pounding in my head, I try my best not to show it but as Julia glanced over at me I could tell she could see the panic clearly written all over my face, she let out a sigh before she finally continued.
" she's not dead you idiot, probably up to no good in the shed, I'll go get her in a minute, for now, you all wait for me in the living room"
She said as she unlocked the front door for us, how she got a key to a house she's never been in no one knew, perhaps Milana's grandfather was the type to hide an extra key under the doormat or something. We enter the house and so far so good, first impressions matter and from what we can see the pace is pretty clean, minus the occasional barricades on some of the windows, but ignoring their messy look it made he place feel safer .
Neon
I couldn't ignore the fact that i may or may not have overheard Oliwia's and Julia's earlier conversation, and nanette? Now don't get me wrong, me, vaida and her were THE trio, three BESTIES, the uno, dos and tres, we were like three peas in a pod, you get the point, however things happened and three turned to two, we never had the chance to even things out between us so long story short this will be a bit of an awkward reunion, as much as I don't want to, we'll have to put our differences aside for a while, a short while I hope.
Taking in the interior of the house it's exactly what you'd expect from a farm house, not too modern, still had that old farmer feel to it, and the smell to it too (if yk, yk) however it was in good condition, and that's all that mattered, wouldn't wanna stay somewhere shitty after all.
Milana took the lead, as expected since she practically grew up in his place from what i know, we all gathered in the living room, there was a big fireplace in the centre, rug made out of what seems is a bear though I'm not sure if it's real or not, two old couches, you can tell they've been here for a while and a deer head that was placed high up on the wall above one of the couches, however what seemed off about this place is that the grandfather was nowhere to be seen, this was his place, from what i could smell there were living animals here so someone had to take care of them on a daily, him not being here doesn't sit right with me, I'll ask Julia about that later though.
I took a seat on the couch with the deer head above it, vaida sat beside me, i could see she was holding on to our bag of supplies with a firm grip, not sure if it's out of stress or uneasiness, either way i put a hand on her shoulder to calm her down a bit, it seemed to work as she gave me a small smile. Across from us sat oliwia, milana and miles, miles has been rather silent this whole way here but at the same time i don't blame them, new place n all that.
We all seemed to stiffen up as we heard the back door open with a bang, whoever....whatever that was, well it seems pretty pissed, all eyes were on the entrance of the living room, my hand tight around the handle of my bat, i could see the others prepare for the worst, maybe this is what vaida was stressing about.
It would've been smarter to get up by now and head right back out the exit, however for some reason all our asses were glued to the couch, the footsteps of one person turned to two, maybe Julia brought in Milana's grandfather? But as we see her approach the living room with her mystery person i couldn't help but gasp, it was Nanette..and she didn't look so good.
