"the woman with a long white coat, with the sunlight behind her, seemed like an angel"
"Guys!" Haechan ran into the yard where they were doing their everyday training.
"You're one lap behind Haechan. Get a move on" Renjun hissed.
"This is big news!" Haechan stopped everyone from running, flapping his arms around. Everyone began gathering, slowly down their steps and approaching Haechan with curious eyes.
"There is..." Haechan paused and looked at everyone straight in the eye, building their anticipation "...a girl"
Jeno scoffed "What, another one of those girls you see on instagram or something"
"No no, listen" Haechan pulled Jeno back into the crowd "There's a girl in the medical station. I overheard her and Taeyong talking. Apparently she's our new doctor"
Everyone's eyes lit up. As a group of a men who's basically never left the fire station apart from missions, they've met about a total of two girls in their entire lives as a firefighter.
"Is she still there?" One of the firefighters asked.
"Yes-" Before Haechan could even finish his sentence, everyone bolted towards the medical station.
"Wait for me dimwits" Haechan called, being easily pushed to the back of the herd. Soon enough, the group of men arrived at the office door, crowding around the tiny window that allowed vision access inside the medical station.
"She's pretty" Jeno mentioned, but as soon as he said that, he was shoved aside by Mark.
"Let me see" Mark peered into the window. About 20 or so guys simply watched her tie her hair up, as if she did all this in slow motion.
"She is pretty" Mark commented, again being pulled around by about ten people around him. Arin had a mob of light brown hair, slightly wavy. Her eyes were caramel, as if it was full of melted chocolate. Her entire aura screamed innocent, everything from her pale skin to pink blush, she was the girl that everyone has a crush on in highschool. Which was mostly accurate if it weren't for Jungwoo; everyone in her highschool thought she was dating Jungwoo so no men even approached her. No wonder one glance at her made a whole group of firefighters lose their mind. Arin, upon hearing the ruckus, turned to look through the window where she almost jumped at how many people were crowding at the door.
"She's looking this way!" Haechan yelled and everyone collectively ducked down, shielding themselves away from the window as if she didn't just see them. Arin furrowed her eyebrows, staring the window that now no longer had the group of boys through it.
"They do realise I saw them already right..." Arin stood up, approaching the door.
"She's coming, she's coming" Haechan whacked Jaemin
"Stop being a pussy" Jaemin fired back
"Then you go stand up and talk to-" Haechan was mid sentence when they all felt an intimidating aura swallow them.
"Talk to who" A low, husky voice crushed the atmosphere. His presence caused everyone to jump to their feet and straighten their back.
"Captain" Jeno saluted him immediately, followed by everyone else "Chenle we were just-"
The door opened.
It was a split second that their eyes met. For the very first time, there was a familiarity in her. The woman with a long white coat, with the sunlight behind her, seemed like an angel. Their gaze locked for an instant, an involuntary connection that transcended the coldness that enveloped him. Chenle's gaze was a tempest of emotions suppressed beneath layers of bravado, but he quickly averted his eyes, unwilling to let even a fraction of vulnerability surface.
The moment their eyes ripped from each other, Chenle faced the group of firefighters, who all now had hearts glued to their eyes.
"Are you all done with training? Did I say you could leave?" Chenle yelled "Last person to the track does extra 5km"
In a split second, everyone ran off, leaving the two in the corridor of the station.
"Hi, I'm Hwa-" Arin stuck out her hand, only to receive a brief glance and a nod, Chenle's figure walking away faster than she could even finish her sentence.
"Wow, nice to meet you too" Arin rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over "What a jerk"
;
Her day could not have been starting off any better than an ear bleeding alarm that set up in her room. Groaning, she pulled herself up, her hair sitting on her head like a chickens nest and her eyes barely being able to open. She glanced outside the window, realising the sun was barely even up, and let out another massive sigh of frustration. Taeyong mentioned briefly that they do a morning briefing every week, she just concluded it must have been that.
Dragging herself up, she changed into the navy blue outfit she had been given for training, and lugged herself over there. By the time she even arrived, everyone was already stood in neat rows with their arms to their side and feet together. Chenle was in front, barking orders at them. Upon seeing her clamber towards the group, Chenle froze, fists clenched.
"What time is it Arin?" Chenle swivelled to stare at her, in which she gulped.
"6:30...?" Arin murmured
"Speak up"
"6:30"
There was moments of silence.
"Listen up. Everyone" Chenle turned back to everyone "The moment you step inside this building, you are to follow rules and never be late. Slacking off can costs us training time. Each second wasted is every second further away from saving lives. If I hear one more of you come here late, you're out of here"
Arin winced at the volume he was speaking out.
"Do you hear me?!" Chenle hollowed, receiving s deep choir of 'Yes Captain's in response.
"Arin, do you hear me" Chenle looked at her, in which she jolted again and nodded "As the paramedic, your skill set cannot be less of a firefighters. You are to train with us, and become stronger with us. Now join the line and don't be late again"
Arin scurried into the line, absolutely frightened at what had just happened. It seemed as though this was the volume he spoke at in a daily basis, and by the looks of the expressions of the other firefighters, it seemed as though they were trying to tell her 'You better get used to it'.
"5km run. 20 minutes. Now"
"Excuse me!?"
