Delilah POV
"Oh boy." I jump from my bed, running to the bathroom. I check the alarm clock. Yep, I wake up late for church. I have a singing performance to do by 8:30.
I got on my knees and thanked God for waking me up this morning. I hurry into the shower. "Ah!" It's cold.
I start singing One Name by Naomi Raine. I love her song. I moisturize my skin.
Lately it's been a rough week. All these temptations I have been getting and my parents disowning me. It's not easy, but I have Jesus, and that's all I need.
Today I shall not worry because today is about praising and worshipping God.
Let's put that aside. I put on my clothes and started washing my curly, thick hair. It's very much tangled, but I did a ponytail.
I'm excited to do this again. Yes again! I have done this before and many more performances like dancing. It was so amazing.
I teach the youths on Saturdays, and we do some little fun activities. I love kids.
I grabbed my purse and Bible and quietly walked downstairs. I'm trying to hide from my parents at this moment.
-
"Hey, oh my goodness! You have come!" Daisy smiled with her dimples showing.
She's a church friend of mine. "Sorry I came late." I smiled. "It's alright. Come on, let's rehearse together." She pulls me to the back.
I haven't seen Lucas; he told me that he was going to the stage to preach the gospel.
Maybe he's coming later. Daisy and I started rehearsing. "I love your voice. You are doing great!" She claps her hands.
"Thank you."
"Let's take a break because I don't want your voice gone by then. I'll see you later." Daisy waves her hands and disappears, more likely gone.
I'm nervous, well, a little, I guess, but I still have faith that I'll do good. "Little Miss Delilah."
"Where is my cake?"
"At home. Where's my love you have for me? James opens his arms out. "Aww!" He whispers.
James is like a younger brother to me. "Are you super ready?" He asked. "Yes, I can say that." I chuckled.
-
After the performance we had a devotional. It was super great. I thought that I would have been nervous, but as soon as I put my focus on God, I wasn't nervous anymore.
"Amen!"
Lucas was the one doing the devotion, and he's pretty much doing so good. He's great with words.
After the service, everyone was discussing outside, elderly people talking to each other as usual. "Oh dear! Your performance was so great. God bless you!" Mrs. Grey came up to me and hugged me.
She has such a lovely and Christ-like personality. I love her so much, and I also love her thick, curly hair.
The first time I met her, she was so calm and gentle to me since I was a new believer, and I was so shy and nervous. "Aww, thank you! God bless you too! I loved the chorus you sang the other day. I didn't get a chance to talk to you."
"Oh dear, my grandchildren and husband love that chorus so much." She chuckles. "I don't want to take up your time; I'll get to Chris. He's been really wanting that homemade lasagna." She kissed my cheek goodbye.
"Wanna go get some fast food?" James asked. "No, I'm fasting on it."
"Oh cool. I have a kitchen in my dorm we can all make homemade food in." He said including Lucas and Jesse.
Jesse is not a Christian. She only comes on Sundays, and in other words, she's worldly, but we wouldn't hate her because of that; it's her choice. We invited her because we don't want her to feel like she's lonely or unwelcome.
"Hey Jesse!" James waves at her, telling her to come to us. "Oh hey guys." She awkwardly smiled. "Don't be shy; we are going to James's dorm to cook some food. We want to invite you."
"Sure. Let me know when you guys are ready to leave." She leaves.

"Wait! Lucas." I laugh, "Okay!" We are preparing the food together.
We are making chicken teriyaki rice bowls. This is one of my favorite meals of all time. I haven't done this for a while now. Jesse and James are preparing the broccoli, and they decided to also add in some other vegetables.
"You are cutting it too thin." I frown, "Fine, I'll cut it thick."
"Are you two dating?" Jesse asks, "No!" We both shut. "I was just asking." She shrugged her shoulders. "Sorry, it was shocking that you thought that." I chuckle nervously.
A few minutes later came, and we are now serving the food. "Thank you, Jesus, for this meal that you have given us. Nourish this in our bodies, and may you feed the ones that are hungry. Amen." James prayed.
"This is good," Jesse says.
We started eating quietly; everyone was minding their business while I was here talking to Jesus in my little head about little things.
God, this meal is so good. I hope that I can make one when I go to heaven. You have to try this.
Don't mind me; I just like talking to God. "Do you guys want to watch The Chosen?"
"I already watched the full seasons, so I don't want to spoil it." James gets up from the table and goes to the kitchen.
"No, thank you. My Uber is coming in the next 20 minutes. I have to go outside." Jesse left.
"What season are you in? Because I'm in season 1 right now." Lucas asked. My smile grew bigger. "You know you are my number 4 favorite person in the world, right?"
"Who's your number one, two, and three?" He says, "The father, the son, and the holy spirit." I stand up in front of him. "As you should, keep it that way. I like it." He taps my nose. I giggle; his eyes softened.
We sat on the couch and started watching the show.
Lucas POV
"So, what's your plan on all this stuff that happened to you?" I asked; I really want to help her so badly, but she refused, and I should understand that.
"I'll be staying there for a few weeks only with one condition, which is cleaning their house. Don't worry; I don't mind cleaning. I have to search for apartments from now on."
Oh man, I pray to God every day to keep her safe and maintain her relationship with him. I'm glad that she isn't worrying too much about it. "Don't worry; God is there for you."
"I know. Let's do some cool painting together." She clings onto me, making me tense up.
She notices me, "Oh sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." She laughs.
She's nervous.
She laughs when she's nervous. The problem is not you clinging on me. It's you who makes me feel nervous when you are around.
"We have been friends for years; it's okay." I pat her head. She mumbles softly, but I couldn't hear properly, so I kneel down to grab her hands and pull her up to my back.
Running while she's laughing.
-
"Good night to you, Dee." He whispers to me, "Good night to you too." I let out a giggle. "Uh, where do you work now? I was wondering if I should bring you lunch tomorrow."
"At Johnny Supermarket. Hope you bring me my favorite meal."
"Right." He stays there while I am walking towards my parents' house. "Aren't you leaving?" I smiled, feeling nervous about the fact he's literally watching me, which is unusual.
"Just making sure you get home safely. Go ahead, don't worry." I nod my head at him and close the door.
God, why am I feeling so nervous around him? This never happened before.
I took a long shower. Surprisingly, my parents are not home, and the house is clean like I left it.
I put on my Hello Kitty socks and my 'Jesus is Lord.' Hoodie. The night is very cold.
I like Hello Kitty.
That was random.
It was pretty late, so I prayed before I went to sleep and dropped asleep.
