Delilah POV
Maddy and I went on a girls-only date and did a Bible study together. I laughed out loud at her funny jokes. It was a lovely Saturday morning spent with my best friend of all time.

"This joke has made my day already," I giggled, shoving grapes into my mouth. I love grapes so much. James brought me a whole big box of them for my birthday—it was lovely.

We talked for at least two hours before heading back home. I had been invited to Lucas's house tonight. Mrs. Anderson wanted me to come over because she hadn't heard from me in a while.

I came home exhausted after a long walk. Maddy convinced me to walk instead of taking a taxi. Apparently, she said it was good for us—and I agreed, too.

I found Atlas on the couch, watching football with his son.
"Atlas, you're so loud," I said, rolling my eyes. I heard a soft chuckle from behind.
"It's Atlas every Saturday. Would you mind helping me make these cookies with Ava?"

A bright smile spread across my face. I nodded quickly, almost jumping on my way to Ava.

I looked at her, standing in a tiny apron with a spatula in hand—almost the size of her head.
"Let's make brownies too!" she shouted, dragging me into the kitchen, running around with excitement.

"My sweet girl, it's been a while since I've seen you."
Mrs. Anderson embraced me with a warm hug and a kiss on my cheek.

She's always been such a lovely woman—I love her so much. She's like a light in the darkness.

Her warm hugs and her bright smile, dimples and all, always make me feel welcome wherever she is.

"Mrs. Anderson, how are you doing?" I asked with a smile.
"Good as ever. Don't stand in the doorway—come in! How are you doing, darling?" She gently caressed my hair as she welcomed me inside.

"I'm doing great."

"Oh my goodness! I haven't seen you in ages!"
Christina ran up and wrapped me in a hug.
"Lucas has been talking about you nonstop. I think he likes you," she whispered, dragging me into the living room.

"Chrissy! Stop. Mother!" Lucas called from behind, whining like a child.
I giggled at the sight.

"Anyway, I love your lip gloss. Where did you get it?" Christina asked, which sparked a whole conversation.

"How's college?" Mr. Anderson asked.
"It's going good, sir," I answered politely.

We all began eating together, chatting and enjoying the meal.
