I Think Often of Death

I think often of death
Not just my own
But death as a whole
I often think of the quote by Wilde though I can't remember it now
I think of animals killed in car crashes
Babies dead on delivery
Beloved family pets
Farm animals killed to feed
Prey killed by predators
I think often of death
I think of the deaths I've caused
Though they may be insignificant they bring me guilt
I think of a cricket I accidentally killed
A spider who met the same fate
I hope death is kinder then life
I hope it's softer and warmer
I hope that there's such boundless joy and warmth
I think often of death
Of how beautiful it must be
I hope my death affords me a kindness life didn't
I hope anything that's met death finds it to be kinder then life
I think often of death.
