Chapter 12

Na'vi speaking

Riely Pov

It's been two years since I got my Ikran and life has been pretty good so far. Except for the fact that the sky people keep pushing further and further into our territory. Currently I am flying with Spur to Hell's Gate to visit some friends. I land on the roof and slide off Spur disconnecting Tsaheylu. I jump down and open the door to the facility and sneak my way to the lab getting weird looks from humans as I do so. As I was walking through the place I passed the gym and spot one of the people I came to visit. I walk into the Gym and sneak behind him as he does pull ups on a metal bar. Uncle Lyle! I shout as I push him off the metal bar. He lets out a very girlish scream as he falls to the ground landing on his back. I giggle as I look down at him and he glares right back up at me before laughing as well. What are you up to idiot? I ask him. He gives me a mock offended look while placing a hand on his chest. I'll have you know I'm not an idiot. He said with some sort of fake fancy accent. Yeah, he's actually a complete moron. Another familiar voice cut in. I turn around and Grace stands in the doorway. Aunt Grace! I exclaim as I rush to hug her.

What's up tiny? She asks me as she hugs back. Nothing much and I'm not tiny, I'm fun sized. It tells her with a laugh. I hear Lyle let out a laugh as he walks by and ruffles my hair before he exits the gym. You are tiny! He yells before running out and around a corner. Jerk! I yell as Grace laughs. So how's things back in the village? They're going good, same as always I guess. I tell her. Okay, what's wrong? She asks me. Nothing. I say dismissively. She gives me a look while putting her hands on her hips sassily. Really? Riely i've known you since you were a toddler. I think i know when something is wrong with you. I give her a pouty look hoping she'll let up but she doesn't. Besides, don't you remember how you tried to hide what that Ronal kid did to you when your family visited the metkayina clans of the sea? How well did that turn out for you? She asked me. I visibly shudder at the memory of what had happened that year.

Flashback

It had been three weeks since I had completed my flight of passage and gotten Spur. Mother and father had us come with them to the islands awa'atlu so they could form a peace treaty with the clans there. When we arrived the villagers had not been too happy to see me, but mother and father vouched for me and made sure i was allowed to stay explaining how i came to be and how my parents found me. While I did have free roam of the village, people were still skeptical of me. All except one, the chief's son Tonowari. He saw me as a potential friend and ally for the future. His betrothed mate Ronal however saw me as a threat to her and everyone else around, but for publicity sake she played nice. Well when everyone was looking that is. On one of the days of our stay Ronal had cornered me and started to verbally assault me. She said cruel things about how I will be the death of my family and that I should not even be alive or that Eywa made a mistake in letting me live.

I refused to tell anyone and she continued this until one day it ended up physically and she and some of her Friends decided to jump me. The reason they decided to do this was because Tonowari had spent the day with me, teaching me how to swim and hold my breath under the water. Ronal felt threatened by this, and you can guess how a 5-1 battle went. I ended up beaten and unconscious on the beach and nobody knew till Spur found me and in a panic flew me back to mom and dad who were in the middle of a meeting with the Olo'ektan and Tsahik. They flew into a panic when I was brought in beaten, bloody and unconscious. They fixed me up and i awoke several hours later with Spur curled around me and Sylwanin and Neytiri were holding both my hands while my parents demanded that my attackers be found and punished.

Noticing I was awake they questioned me who it was but I refused to tell them until Ronal entered the hut with Tonowari and Spur went absolutely batshit crazy. She pounced on Ronal roaring in her face while pinning her down. Mom ended up putting two and two together and spoke, you, you hurt my daughter! She seethed. Ronal, realizing she had been caught, looked frightened but not resourceful. That demon shouldn't be her. She said hissing. There was a loud slap that echoed across the room as Ronals head snapped to the side, but it wasn't anyone from my family who slapped but the clan tsahik. If you don't get your act together I will find someone else to replace you as future tsahik. She said angrily. Over the next few days of our visit our hut was flooded with apology gifts from Ronal and those alongside her who attacked me. Being the kind hearted person I am, I forgave them all despite my mother saying that they didn't deserve it.

Flashback ends.

Knowing I couldn't hide everything forever, I tell Grace what has been going on. I have grown feelings for someone. I tell her. Oh and who is the lucky man or woman? She asks me with a smile growing on her face. That's the thing it's Tsu'tey and i feel like i shouldn't have these feelings for him. I fess as frustrated tears well up in my eyes. And why not i think its completely normal for you to feel the way you do, Riely. Grace says as she sits down on a bench and pulls me with her holding my hand in hers. But I think Slywanin likes him too. I cry. Grace laughs a bit before saying. Riely believe me your sister doesn't like Tsu'tey in that way at all. she has told me she likes one of the gather boys of the clan. Grace than rubs her thumbs across my hands. Riely you are fifteen years of age. It is completely normal for you to feel this way even if he is like five years older than you. I smile at Grace, gaining comfort in her words. Suddenly something feel off in my heart and i feel a rumbling in the ground beneath us. I look out the window and instantly know something is wrong and someone i love is in danger.
