''Good morning'' says William. His voice captured their attention of Emily as she hopped down from the driller swinging her hand gloves aside.

''Hey, Williams, I see that did not have a hang of last night,'' says Emily as she smirks.

''Yeah...... I..'' William was about to say something. As Jack interrupts William
Last night was lit guys. I met a couple of ladies who work in the cotton company downtown. They were hot chicks'' Jack said with so much lust in his tone which was a bit cringy to William.

Emily chuckles and turns to Williams who was looking so tired.'' Am so sorry for dragging you to the beer room. I just wanted us to chill after a long day of work'' She puts her hand on Willam's shoulder.

Emily has been working in the mining company for as long as William can remember. She had a little thing for William but he seemed unbothered about it even if Jack and Thomas brought it to his notice.
'' Can't you see Emily is crazy about you?''
''And why should that be a bother ?'' says William as he drops the bear mug on the table.
''Why won't you want to give her a chance? We are not going to be alive forever. If you lose Emily it would be at your loss'' says Thomas as he feels so uneasy.
''I suggest  we should face what's more important,'' says Williams
''Which is?'' asked Jack
'' Trying to make progress with the mining activities. Mr Harrington is not impressed. He keeps complaining about our productivity. We need to be serious''
''To hell with that man. He is such an old idiot''

Mr Harrington walks into the company. His suit makes him look respectable and professional like his work. He ordered one of the workers to assemble everyone as he had information to pass on.
Williams gives him a stare as both of their eyes meet. But, Mr. Harrington ignores it cause he knows Williams always has to same old thing to say.''Sir, we can't continue being treated as slaves.''
Mr Harrigton's reply '' You can always quit the job'.'

'' Gather around everyone. Mr Harrigton requests for our presence.'' shouts out one of the colleagues.

'' Good morning to you all'' says Mr Harrington
All responded in accordance.

They all gathered like soldiers.
''Good day all. I just got a letter from the Mayor saying there is a big contract that awaits us at the mining cooperative. We would be working with some other miners in South America. This would be a great opportunity for us as a team to become better. Our means of travelling will not also be caged on hard labour as Mr Williams always complains'' Mr Harrington says as he rolls his eyes toward the Williams who gave him an awkward smirk. We would be negotiating with local communities in America, navigating treacherous terrain and we must know challenges must be involved.'' Me Harrington said all these and stamped his walking stick on the ground. He walks out.

What could be Williams's thoughts after this?

They all got back to work. The clacking of machinery, rumbling of carts, transporting of minerals and the voices of miners discussing their tasks. Blasting, drilling...all continued.
