I spin around quickly to see Dean standing behind me. My stomach is in somersaults immediately, he is wearing black slacks and a crisp, white button down. His hair styled perfectly and green eyes run slowly up and down my body.
"Oh, hi Sheriff" his eyes are still slowly crawling up my body until he reaches my eyes. I start to squirm a little under his gaze. Those eyes look darker.
"Dean" is all he says. Not moving. His voice is like a command and it makes my lower stomach clench.
I clear my throat and break eye contact. It's too intense and I'm sure someone has cranked up the heat in here.
"Night off?" I ask trying to diffuse the thick tension that has settled around us.
He blinks a few times like my question has taken him out of a daze "Er.... Yeah... yeah..... night off" he looks a little nervous before his usually cool and calm composure comes back
"I thought it was long overdue" he chuckles and the sound makes me melt. "Are you enjoying your night?"
"Very much" I smile the alcohol giving me a little bit more confidence
"Three daiquiris" the bartender announces and I fumble in my clutch to pay him.
"It would appear so" Dean sounds very amused eyeing the drinks over my shoulder with a smile.
"Oh these aren't all for me.... I'm with Jessica and... Georgia actually... it was her idea to go out. I have never really been out to a bar before, well, I have been to a bar I just haven't been to a bar with actual friends before..." why can't I stop talking?
I turn round and tuck my clutch under my arm attempting to pick up all three drinks. I fail miserably. How did Georgia do this so easily?
"Here. Let me help" Dean leans over me. He is so close. His fresh scent makes my head dizzy and I can see his stubble coming through on his perfect square jawline. I stare at his soft, pink lips for a moment.
He grabs two of the glasses on the bar "Lead the way"
I take a deep breath trying to snap out of whatever that was. I pick up the last glass and walk over to the girls with Dean following.
Jess and Georgia are chatting away. I place my drink on the table and stay standing upright. Dean goes unnoticed until he places the glasses down, the girls realising those are not my hands.
"Dean!" Georgia exclaims when she looks up and sees him.
"Sheriff" Jess nods. Looking at me then Dean.
"Ladies" he greets smoothly
"It's so nice to see you out, you never go out" Georgia blurts. She may also be a little tipsy.
"Just helping Annie with the drinks" he smiles "I'll leave you to your night"
I can't seem to do anything but watch him turn to walk away. I want him to stay but I know I shouldn't ask.
"Why don't you join us?" Jess asks him, still looking at me. Dean and I look at her. She turns her head and smiles at him.
"I don't want to crash girls night" he answers slowly
"You wouldn't be crashing, we don't mind" Jess' smile gets bigger, and I am sure there is something else there. What is she up to? Does she like Dean? Why does that feel like a knife in my chest?
"Honestly, it's fine I'm with a few friends over there so...."
"Bring them over, the more the merrier" Jess is really pushing this. Why?
