The trip had taken longer than expected. What was only supposed to be a day in the Enchanted Forest turned into a week. Pan had asked, Lizzy saw it more as a demand, for her to stay behind while he took care of whatever he was doing that required them to be there in the first place.
Lizzy obliged by his 'request' to stay behind; at a tavern near by. He never said where she had to stay behind at. She had grown up in taverns, and came to love them during her sea-faring days. That, however, was almost a hundred years ago.
She had been just under the second hand of a pirate captain from the time she joined the crew at twelve until she turned seventeen. When the captains second hand died, she should have been promoted. She was his most trusted, most skilled, and most loyal crew member, but she was a girl. When she go passed over, she became enraged and when the crew ended up on Neverland, she joined forces with Peter Pan to overthrow her captain. Eventually, she fell in love with him. He took a bit longer to admit he felt something for her, but he refused to use the word Love.
Sitting in the loud, overcrowded tavern Lizzy was awash with nostalgia. She felt like she was fifteen or sixteen again, really fifteen not just looking like she is. Living on Neverland she hadn't aged a day past seventeen.
A man plopping down next to her, sliding a glass of ale her way, plucked her from her thoughts.
"Tell me, what's a pretty young thing like you doing alone in a place like this?" He ginned at her, showing his grimy yellowed teeth from his dark black beard that otherwise covered his mouth.
Lizzy took a long sip before answering with a sickly sweet smile, "I just like the ambiance, reminds me of a past life."
"Did we happen to know each other in this past life? Because it feels like I've known you forever."
The pickup line was as over used as it was cheesy and she had to stop herself from gagging.
"Sorry to disappoint dear but I'm afraid I'm a kept woman."
He snorted in response, "What kind of man in his right mind would let you out of his sights."
Lizzy simply smirked before finishing off her drink. She excused her self to the bar to get another, and admittedly away from him.
Time slipped by in a way that almost reminded her of home, drunken laughs exchanged between her and the other inhabitants, and they even took it in stride when she beat them at all the cheesy tavern games. Darts really was just throwing knives on a smaller scale after all. Things were going great until the same dirty man from before strode up to her, blocking her in the corner she had occupied.
His breath was terrible as it fanned over her face, "I've come to the conclusion either you're lying about your being a kept woman, or that man of yours is really out of his mind."
A moment like this could illicit a thousand different responses from someone, being cornered like an animal by a guy who clearly had ill intentions, but Lizzy had faced this a million more times than she cared to remember. There was only one boy who was allowed to pin her in a corner.
Her usual fight response laced with witty remarks died in her throat at the sound of the tavern door opening. Wind from a storm brewing outside howled in as the person lingered in the doorway for a mere moment. As the door swung shut, it took the sound of the wind and the drunken voices with it, creating a vacuum of silence in the room. No one dared speak another word save for Lizzy.
"I'd take a few steps back if i were you."
The dirty man chuckled, "What? You think you can hurt me little girl?"
"No." The sound of hard footsteps behind the two pierced the silence better than any explosion ever could. Lizzy loved hearing those footsteps enter her vicinity. "But he will."
This caused the man to raise an eyebrow at her, but before he got the chance to spin around, a hand clamped onto his shoulder like a claw digging into it's prey. The hand tugged the man roughly, forcing the man to do a 180 and face the monster it was attached to.
His eyes widened with fear at the sight of a rather angry Peter Pan, green eyes alight with fury and murderous intent. He began to stammer an apology but Pan held a finger to his lips, silencing him easily. The man found even if he wanted to, he couldn't speak anymore.
Lizzy felt her heart thrum and her face heat up when Peter gestured for her to come stand next to him, though that could have just been due to the copious amounts of alcohol she had consumed.
"Lizzy, my dear, is this man bothering you?" Pan asked, his voice smoother than the hundred year old whiskey she had been drinking all night.
The man shook his head furiously, trying to plead his case to no avail. Lizzy had being turned mute by magic once, back before her and Pan's relation took a more physical turn, she hated it, but seeing someone else suffer through it... it felt euphoric almost. She never claimed to be a good person.
"I didn't ask you." Pan hissed as he dug his nails in the mans shoulder.
Lizzy wrapped her hands around Pan's bicep and hid her self slightly behind him, playing the part of the damsel in distress, and nodded curtly. She didn't trust her self to speak. No matter how hard she tried to fight it, she always found herself submitting to Pan, giving into his every whim and desire. He had her trained like a dog, a bitch in heat and he knew it. She loved it.
It happened in an instant, his hand moved from the mans should and shoved it into his chest before tugging it back out, holding the mans heart in his hand. Not some magically form of his heart, but the organ, still beating, blood flowing out with every squeeze of his hearts chambers.
The man fell limp to the floor and Peter dropped his heart, it landing next to his feet with a sucking squish. Lizzy let go of his arm as he walked forward to one of the waitresses, pulling off her apron to use a napkin to clean the blood of his hand and forearm.
"Let this be a lesson then gents," he tossed the now bloody cloth back to the girl who scurried away from it, "No one touches her. Ever." Pan made his way back to Lizzy, stepping over the lifeless body, gently sliding his index finder beneath her chin and raising her head to look him in the eye. "Who do you belong to?"
Lizzy sucked in a sharp breath, trying to keep her knees from buckling. This drove her crazy and he knew it.
"You." She said breathlessly. He wanted everyone to hear, and she wanted to make him proud. He raised an eyebrow and she tried again, but louder, "Peter Pan."
He smirked, please with her performance. Taking her hand, he led her out of the tavern and into the woods.
His business in the Enchanted Forest was done, and they returned home to Neverland, but he would make her wait as punishment for being in that tavern in the first place. It wouldn't be to long however, he was just a smitten with her as she was with him, and he couldn't wait to make her beg.
