(Alastor x Angel! Reader)

Summary: While watching the routine and mundane lives of Mortals, you and Alastor have a musical discussion on human existence.

Each of you chiming in with opinions from your own, very different, viewpoints.

Song: They're Only Human, by Annapantsu, Caleb Hyles.

Sitting on the roof of a tall building as the afternoon breeze kept you cool, you watched the people below go about their daily lives with a vague expression of confusion.

Being an Angel, you found Mortals to be rather interesting creatures.

The way they seemed to always have some place to be, got angry at each other over trivial matters, and never appreciated the natural beauty around them gave you pause.

And if that wasn't enough, they seemed to think that after they died, there would be some big ascent or descent for their soul based on if they were good people in life or not.

Well, just wait until they find out the truth.

That neither Heaven or Hell were described accurately to them, going to either place was a solo journey, and that it often had the potential to be upsetting.

Sighing, you just shook your head, and brushed your hair out of your face as you watched a police chase go down after a crime was committed.

The criminal was so desperate to get away, that they weren't paying attention to where they were going, or how fast, and lost control of the car. Sending it crashing into a nearby store. Which thankfully, was closed and empty at that time.

The driver however, wasn't so lucky, as they were gravely injured in the crash, and died on impact.

"Good luck, you poor soul..." You muttered softly, watching as the criminal's spirit emerged from their body, and sank into the ground.

"Ah, it appears that Hell will be getting yet another denizen now, does it not?"

A static filled voice spoke up from beside you suddenly, but you didn't even flinch. Already knowing who was there with you.

"It would appear so." You agreed, turning to look up at your boyfriend. "Hey, Alastor."

"Hello, Darling! Please forgive my intrusion, but you seem rather down on this fine day. May I ask why?" Alastor asked, his ever present grin still as wide as ever.

"No big reason." You shrugged, and stood up. The white feathers of your wings ruffling with the movement. "I was just thinking about Mortals, and their strange habits. They never have made sense to me.

"Yes well, I can understand that. Having once been human myself, I have my own tales of idiotic humans doing things that do not make sense." Alastor replied, watching in amusement as an impatient driver honked at another when they didn't move as soon as the light turned green. "They are quite peculiar creatures. However entertaining they may be."

"Mhm..." You hummed in acknowledgement. Your golden eyes still trained on the humans below.

Alastor wasn't about to end the conversation there though, and with a snap of his fingers, music that only the two of you could hear filled the air.

The tune started off slow and eerie, as Alastor then began to sing. Watching the people below with a condescending smile.

🎶 "Look at how they crawl around,
upon the ground like little ants." 🎶

Sighing once more, you joined in. Hoping that singing with your boyfriend would brighten up your mood like it usually did.

🎶 "Yes, but how they fascinate, confusing fate with what is merely chance..." 🎶
