The Unexpected New Year's Kiss

Summary: It's New Year's Eve, and instead of spending it alone like you usually do, you decide to throw your own party, and invite all of your closest friends and family.

Including the infamous Radio Demon.

But what you aren't aware of, is that your feelings for the Demon are very much mutual, and he intends to make you his the second the ball drops.

"Hey, (Y/N!) Where do you want these streamers?" Your best friend called out to you from across the room.

"Oh, hang them up by the windows!" You called back, carrying a box of other decorations in from your car.

Your friend gave you a thumbs up before getting to work doing just that, and you began laying out noise makers for your guests to use after the big ball drop.

Then you headed into your kitchen to pour glasses of champagne, and make sure that all of the food was ready.

It took about an hour and a half, but soon, all of the decorations were put up, the snacks and drinks were ready, and your friends and family were beginning to arrive. Each one of them wishing you a Happy New Year's as they entered your house.

But one guest in particular, was who you were on the lookout for. The one who you had been crushing on ever since you first met him.

"Hey, I'm sure he'll show up." One of your friends stated, able to tell why you were looking so anxious.

"How can you be sure?" You asked, watching the front door. Your heart racing faster with every minute that went by.

"Because he's totally into you too!" They answered, smirking as they crossed their arms. "I may not know this guy, but from the way you say he acts around you, I can tell that he definitely has the hots for you. And what guy wouldn't? Look at you!"

You blushed in embarrassment, and playfully smacked your friend's arm.

"Oh shut up! I'm nothing special. But I do appreciate the compliment." You chuckled, smiling warmly at your friend. "Now come on. I need to take my mind off of my worries. How about we grab a snack? There's plenty to choose from, and I also made sure to stock up on apple cider and eggnog too."

"Yes! I love both of those!" Your friend exclaimed, grinning excitedly, and grabbing your hand to pull you into the kitchen.

A few hours went by, and now, it was only ten minutes to midnight. But Alastor still hadn't shown up.

You were beginning to feel very disappointed, even though you tried to hide it, and not bring down the good mood that filled the air around you.

The party was great, and you had a blast with your friends and family. Singing holiday songs, eating and drinking, playing games, and making bets on who would be able to stick to their New Year's Resolutions this year.

But as the main event drew closer, it was becoming harder and harder to hide how despondent you were beginning to feel.

You should have known that Alastor probably wasn't going to show up. Because as close as the two of you were, he was still a Demon Overlord, and most likely, didn't care about trivial things such as ringing in the New Year. Let alone, with something like a kiss.

Sighing, you watched your guests gather around the TV to watch the ball drop in Time Square, New York. But you were no longer in the mood. Even if that was the highlight of the event.

So instead, you walked out onto your deck, and leaned on the railing. Resting your head in your hands, as you watched the snow fall around you.

And as you did, you wondered if maybe your feelings for The Radio Demon were better off left unsaid. Because after all, why would a powerful Demon Overlord be interested in you? You were just a simple human.

Closing your eyes, you tried to hold back your tears, as the countdown for the New Year began.

"10... 9... 8..."

You were so caught up in your own depressed thoughts, that you didn't hear the quiet footsteps in the soft snow behind you.

"7... 6... 5..."

However, the instant you felt strong arms wrap around your waist, and realized that you were being led into a glowing orange and red portal, a small smile formed on your face.

"4... 3... 2..."

The next thing you knew, you were standing on the rooftop of a tall building in New York City's Time Square. With none other than Alastor himself, right in front of you. Holding you close to his chest with a warm smile.

"1..."

"Happy New Year!"

The ball dropped, and cheers from the crowd below you filled the air, but you barely noticed. As the second it hit midnight, Alastor pulled you into a deep and passionate kiss.

You could have sworn that if he wasn't holding you right then, you would have fainted from sheer happiness.

Immediately after feeling Alastor's lips on yours, you melted into his embrace, and kissed him back. Wrapping your arms around his neck, as you began gently playing with the little deer ear-like tufts of hair on his head.

Then, when you eventually pulled away from the amazing kiss, you were met with The Radio Demon's stunning ruby gaze.

"You made it..." You whispered, hardly able to believe what was right in front of you. "I didn't think you'd care about the New Year. Let alone celebrating it with a kiss."

In response, Alastor chuckled, and carefully placed a clawed hand on your cheek. Brushing a stray strand of hair away from your face.

"I apologize for making you worry, My Dear. But I have been busy today." Alastor stated, still holding onto you with no sign that he was going to let go anytime soon. "Not just with causing my usual chaos and carnage, or with helping out the Princess, but with planning a surprise for you."

Hearing that, your eyes lit up, and you smiled excitedly. "Really? You planned something for me?"

"Of course I did!" The Demon's smile widened, and he pulled out a small, velvet box from his suit pocket. "On top of whisking you away to see the ball drop in person, and the surprise kiss, I got something for you."

He then opened the box, and revealed a stunning ruby and diamond necklace. The red, heart shaped gem and smaller diamonds shining brightly in the city lights.

"Oh Alastor..." Your eyes widened in awe, as you admired the gorgeous piece of jewelry. "It's beautiful! But you didn't have to do this for me. I'm just happy to see you here, and to celebrate New Year's with you."

"And I'm happy to be with you too. But I wanted to do this for you, and I hope you will still accept it." Alastor spoke softly, as he gently fastened the necklace around your neck. "I had it crafted just for you, and I must say that it suits you perfectly."

Looking down at the amazing gift, you felt tears of joy fill your eyes, and nodded without any hesitation.

"Of course I'll accept it." You then once again looked up at Alastor with a fond smile, and wrapped your arms around his neck. "Thank you so much, Alastor. For everything. But especially for making my New Year's so special. I love you."

"And I love you too, (Y/N)." Alastor replied, leaning forward to give you another gentle kiss. "Happy New Year, Darling."

"Happy New Year, Bambi." You murmured, as you and Alastor shared yet another kiss under the sparkling fireworks.
