Sarah stood in front of the door for five minutes before ringing the doorbell. Marylou opened the door with a big smile, and behind her was Madi.

"Good morning," Sarah said as Marylou repeated and Madi jumped over to her new babysitter.

"Marie!"
"Madi!" Sarah said as she hugged the girl and then set her down. When she looked up she saw all three brothers, clearly half asleep.
"Hey," She said as she made her way to
them and hugged Nick and Matt.

She gave Chris a nod and settled next to Nick. Chris watched as the girl who used to be his everything tried to ignore him as best as she could while their mom talked. The ache that he felt in that moment was something that he had never felt before and never wanted to feel again.
"Bye, mom and dad! I'll miss you," Madi said as she hugged her mom and then her dad. Marylou hugged her youngest and then hugged the triplets.

"Please be nice to Sarah," Marylou whispered in Chris' ears as he nodded, "I'll see you soon, love you guys! And thanks again, Sarah," She said as she walked out the door with her husband.

"We are going to have so much fun!" Madi turned to Sarah as she looked at the younger girl and laughed.

"I'm going back to bed," Nick asked as Chris agreed and they both stepped upstairs leaving the girl with Madi and Matt.

"I'll stay with you," Matt said as Chris overheard and stopped in his tracks. "You don't have to," Sarah said as Madi dragged Sarah up the stairs Matt followed behind. Bumping into Chris along the way.

Sarah didn't even make eye contact with him as she kept following his little sister, his eyes staring into her back. 

"Have you eaten breakfast?" Sarah asked realizing it was still the morning. "Yes! I had cereal. Matt, Chris do you want cereal?" Madi asked as both brothers made it upstairs to the kitchen.

"I would love cereal," Matt said as Chris shrugged wanting to match Sarah's energy. "Sarah, do you want anything?" Matt asked the girl as he started making himself cereal.

"No, I am fine," She smiled as she sat next to one of the stools, next to Madi. Madi already had coloring books and other arts and crafts materials laid out, ready for her day with Sarah. "Are you sure?" Matt asked again as Chris opened the fridge rolling his eyes. 

When did these two become the best of friends? He thought as he pulled out the milk. "I am one hundred percent sure," She smiled as they both stared at each other smiling.

"Are you guys best friends now?" Madi asked as she stared at them, Chris tensed up next to Matt and poured the cereal in a bowl. "Kinda," Matt responded as Sarah looked offended. 

"I was gonna say yes but-" Sarah laughed as Matt spoke louder, not letting her finish. "No! I just didn't know if you would consider me your best friend, so I didn't wanna-" Matt started as Madi cut him off. "So did you change Chris for Matt?" The three teens froze as Madi looked confused.

"No- I didn't... um," Sarah couldn't find the words to explain the situation. "No, she didn't change me for Matt, she just got super close to Matt two," Chris smiled at his little sister, not wanting to break the news to her that they were no longer best friends. 

"Yeah! We are all best friends," Matt said to his sister as she smiled and looked at Sarah. "Great! Because you are my best friend too!" Madison said as she gave the girl a side hug, Sarah hugged her back and looked at Chris, who was now the one avoiding eye contact. 

"Well... have fun you guys," Chris left with his head down and headed to the living room to eat his cereal alone.
