8 years later

Marylou and Madi stood by the kitchen cooking, spaghetti. "I am so excited," Madi smiled as she turned to Marylou. "Me too!" Marylou started at her baby daughter who was now thirteen years old. 

"How were piano lessons today?" Marylou asked the teen. "I loved them... I am so happy that Sarah gave us her old piano,"

"I am happy too... except when your father and I are trying to sleep," Marylou laughed and so did Madi. "But be sure to thank her when you see her," Marylou pointed to her daughter.

She stared at her, she remained so much of Chris. The smile, the personality, the laugh. It was so clear that the girl was just a copy of her favorite brother and his girlfriend.

"I have said thanks so many times mom, we like Facetime every day," 
"Still. Do it in person," Marylou said as she nodded. "I really wanna play the piano with her," Madi smiled. "I am sure you will be able to," 

They kept talking and cooking when they heard the front door shuffle open.
"We're here!" They heard Nick's voice as Madi squealed and rushed downstairs. She saw all of them standing by the door, putting their luggage down. 

She jumped into hugging Nick. "Madi!"
"Nick!" They pulled apart. She then hugged Matt who tried his hardest not to say 'wow! you look so much older' She hated that. 

"I missed you guys!" She admitted her eyes getting teary-eyed. She loved her brothers and missed having them home 24/7. "Hello?"

"Chris,"  She finally let that tear roll down as she hugged her favorite brother. "How are you Maddog?" He joked as she wiped her tears laughing. "I missed you guys so much... Where is Sarah?"

"She is outside..." Chris smiled as he walked outside next to his sister. 

There Sarah was unpacking some stuff from the car. "Sarah!" madi ran and hugged her role model. "Come in! I wanna say hi to mom!" Chris smiled at his girls.

They had all already eaten the delicious food Marylou and Madi made. They sat around the dinner table talking.
"So how has it been?" Madi asked finished with her food. 
"You talk to us every day Madi," Nick laughed.

"Okay... how has it been since Chris and Sarah moved out? does it feel lonely? sad?" Madi joked as Nick and Matt made eye contact. 

"They moved across the hall from us... they didn't really move out," Matt said rolling his eyes. "hey!" Chris screamed. 

"You are always around!" Nick laughed. 
"And I am sure you appreciate the company," Marylou said as they all laughed. 

"Anyways... Sarah and I have some news," Chris said annoyed at his brothers but when he turned to his girlfriends his problems washed away.

"Are you pregnant?" Madi screamed making everyone laugh and Sarah and Chris screamed no. "Now the news is gonna seem not as big," Sarah laughed.

"oh-" Marylou got it as she started tearing up. She hugged Chris and then Sarah. 

"What? What is it?" Nick asked annoyed. He wanted to know. 

"I proposed to Sarah," Chris admitted, his mom still weeping. "What?" The whole room exploded with questions and happiness.
"You didn't tell me?" Matt questioned them as they simply said. "we wanted to keep up a secret!" 

"When was this?" Nick screamed. 
"two days go?" Sarah and Chri smile at each other. 

"You kept it from all of us for two days?" Madi screamed. 

"Yes!" Sarah laughed as she hugged Marylou one more time.

"I am going to faint!" Madi screamed again, making all of them laugh.

"How did it happen?" They all sat around waiting to hear. "well I got home from work and Chris was 'cooking'"

"oh no, what did he do?"

"I bought Canes and put it on a plate," Chris admitted.
"Wow... how romantic" Nick sarcastically rolled his eyes.

"We had a very romantic dinner. He even lit up three candles-"

"And I didn't even burn myself doing it!" He joked as Sarah laughed. no one understood what was funny, but that is how they always were. Inside jokes, sneaky looks, and full of laughter.
"And at the end... he got down on one knee and gave an amazing speech," She smiled at her b̶o̶y̶f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶  fiancée. 

"I only dropped the ring once," He laughed.

"Wait did you actually?" Matt laughed as Chris pressed his lips into a thin line and said "I was so nervous,"

They all kept talking as Madi quietly started crying. "What's wrong Madi?" Sarah asked noticing the girl.

"I'm just so happy for you guys- and you guys are gonna be amazing parents and I love you guys so much," The girl hyperventilated every syllable, making Sarah and Chris cry alongside the girls. 

"Oh... C'mere,' Sarah said hugging the teen. Chris hugged his girls. "Can I be at the wedding?"  Madi cried as Sarah said "I was gonna ask you to be my bridesmaid... If it weren't for you we wouldn't be together," 

"Oh," Madi cried more.
That is one thing she got from Nick... her crying.

"I love you guys so much!"

"We love you too Madi!"

Their Invisible String felt tighter than ever...
Who knew that all they needed was Madi to fix everything...

this might be my favorite epilogue I have ever written.
