-Kai's POV-

I reclaimed the knife from the floor and stood to my full height, that of your average eight year old, and almost looking exactly like a boy with my narrow brown eyes and unruly dark hair which haloed my small oval face.

Attila was stooped before me.
We were almost eye to eye.

"I did," I stated, tone even.

It was a truth we couldn't evade, a revelation that would shatter our fragile facade.

But she will be okay.
She is asleep now.

The memories belong to us, woven into our shared existence. I hold the key to our truths, and I wouldn't let him dominate.

"And who are you?" Attila's voice was empty, his face a block of ice, and a surge of anger bubbled up as I clenched the knife tightly in my hand.

"Kai."

"Why did you do it, Kai?"

"I had to kill her," I replied, remorseless and almost indifferent to his questioning, "It only felt natural to eradicate the source of our pain. Laura was a liar and deserved everything she suffered that night. I did like to watch her cry and scream, but she looked so much better dead."

Even though Illyana was unaware of it, I would do anything to protect the system from harm.

Attila absorbed this information without a hint of emotion. So calm, as he had already done his own calculations and suspected a motive such as mine.
He knows far more than she thinks.

He was silent for a moment before speaking again, "Did you kill anyone else?"

There is a possibility he already knew the answer to his question.
He'd been investigating.

The truth will remain unspoken.
The secrets are mine to keep.

"You're trespassing," I said.

There was an air of anticipation in Attila's silence. I remained unmoved, even as his stare softened marginally.
I will not be fooled.

"I am not here to harm you. I only want to find the truth."

"You do not have the authority nor the right to pry in such a way. You have no idea how dangerous it is to be poking around in our things."
