*Cuts to Ashlyn singing wondering before cutting back to Carmen*

Carmen: *Chef's kiss* Flawless. And now for an even more flawless Act Two.

Intro over

EJ was taking over as troy.

Yeah.

Ricky was that freaked out from his mom and her boyfriend.

Ashlyn stormed into the room where I was running lines with EJ, since Nini was still freaking out.

"What did you do to Ricky?" Ashlyn demanded.

"I didn't do anything. He asked me to fill in." EJ told her.

"He's telling the truth." I confirmed. "Ricky texted me."

"So it's true. You're actually going on as Troy." Ashlyn said.

"Yep." EJ said, not seeming entirely happy about it.

"I guess a certain part of me wants to say congratulations." Ashlyn said.

"Yeah, and a certain part of me wants to throw up." EJ responded.

"Wait, if you're Troy, then who's playing Chad?"

"Oh yeahhhhhhhhhh..." I said, deliberately trying to delay it.

Carlos strutted in with a swagger and a Chad costume.

But it wasn't his regular swagger. I knew something was wrong.

"Buckle up, Wildcats! You ready... bro?" he said to EJ, holding his fist out.

He and EJ awkwardly fist bumped, before EJ left.

"Pray for me." Carlos begged Ashlyn and I.

"I'm atheist." I replied.

"So this is your real stage..." Nini/ Gabriella said, walking onto the stage area.

She saw that Ricky had been replaced with EJ and looked a little confused.

"I guess you could call it that. Or just a smelly gym." EJ/ Troy replied

Nini pulled covered her mic with her hand so it wouldn't pick up what she said.

"What? What's going on? Where's Ricky? Where is Ricky?" she whispered.

We made eye contact.

'Just keep going like normal.' I mouthed.

Nini grabbed the basket ball from EJ and through it at the hoop. It bounced off, making a loud clang. Nini had always been able to make that shot in rehearsal.

"Whoa. Don't tell me you're good at hoops, too?" EJ said, unfazed.

I have to say, when it comes to sticking to the script, he is pretty good.

"Um... I once scored forty one points at a league championship game." Nini said, sounding like she could barely remember her lines.

"No way." EJ said, filling his tone with disbelief.

"Uh, yeah, in the same day I invented the space shuttle and microwave popcorn." Nini laughed nervously.

Ashlyn/ Miss Darbus and the guy playing coach Bolton (I'm calling him Gary) walked onto the stage.
