Note: thedr3amerxo I saw your comment about having a part in the story where Y/N is alone and everything goes wrong for her. For some reason, Wattpad wasn't letting me reply to it. Could you comment on this chapter what specific ideas you want me to write for that chapter? Hopefully I'll be able to reply this time! :)
Warnings: Brief mention of blood/injury
~"Captain Kaldor said... to release her? That can't be right."
"Give me that, idiot... Huh, you're right."
"What about the report?"
"Admiral Tarkin says to destroy it."
"Good soldiers follow orders, I guess."
Your eyes adjust as you open them. Two Imperial soldiers are standing in front of you. You feel a stabbing pain in your head from when you got knocked out. You search through your pockets for the data stick, but it isn't there. You see that one of the soldiers has it."
"Which one of you... hit me?" You ask groggily.
"I did." One of them speaks up. "I was just doing my job."
"You could've done it in a nicer way." You groan.
The other one sneers. "I'm sorry we don't cater to your needs, rebel."
"I'm not a rebel. I've been trying to join the Empire. Please, just take me as a prisoner."
"Nope. We have our orders. Come on."
Silas Kaldor... Always getting in my way. You think.
~
The two soldiers lead you off of the base.
"This feels wrong. Are you sure you're just going to let me go?" You say, swiftly grabbing the data stick from one of the soldiers.
"I told you. We have our orders. Now go!"
You walk away from the soldiers past the base and into the forest.
Not exactly the outcome I wanted, but at least I got the data stick back.
You look down at your left arm and see that your com has been destroyed.
"Wonderful." You say sarcastically.
You assume that the squad found a way off of the base. It's either that, or they're on the base.
"Time to start looking around, I guess. If I were the squad, where would I be...?"
~
In order to see your surroundings better, you climb one of the tall trees. The air is slightly cold, and the forest has a sort of ominous feeling. You hold on tightly since it would be a long fall. Looking up at the cloudy, gray sky, you see the Marauder flying around, probably searching for you.
"Those idiots... don't they know that this is Imperial airspace?"
You get your rifle and aim it at the tip of one of the wings of the Marauder.
"Stop... moving." You mutter.
You're pretty sure you have just enough range to hit the tip of the wing and alert the squad where you are. You take the shot. It misses.
"If he's flying that way... I'll need to account for that by aiming a bit more to the right."
You aim off center and it hits the wing of the Marauder. The ship moves towards you and you see Tech land it nearby. You carefully climb down the tree and walk over to the ship.
~
Omega hugs you when she sees you. "Y/N! You're okay!"
You stand there as she hugs you. "Uh, yeah."
"Why didn't they keep you as a prisoner?" Tech asks.
"So you aren't grateful I'm here?" You tease.
"That is not what I-"
"I know, I know."
"We need to get out of here." Hunter says.
All of you go back onto the Marauder.
"Oh, Y/N?" Tech says.
"Yeah?"
"Next time, try not to damage my ship."
"Our ship." Wrecker reminds him.
~
You hand Hunter the data stick. "I got the data, by the way."
He smiles. "Thank you."
"How did you get knocked out? The data couldn't have taken that long to download." Echo asks.
"The guards came into the control room right as I downloaded the data." You lie.
Nobody seems to see through your lie. Tech starts to fly the ship off-world. You walk to your room. Hunter follows you.
"We wouldn't have stopped searching for you, Y/N. We care about you."
"I know you do, and I guess... I guess I care about you too, but..." You lower your voice. "I want to reunite with my father."
He sighs. "You'll get your chance. Just not right now."
Hunter leaves your room without saying anything else.
~
Since you have some time before you land on Ord Mantell, you decide to take a refresher. You don't feel the cleanest after your long mission. You walk to the bathroom and shut the door. You look in the mirror and see that there is dried blood on the side of your face from getting knocked out. You place your hand on the back of your head and can feel a bump.
"Damn." You wince. "They didn't have to hit me so hard."
You turn the valve to make the water heat up. You get undressed as it does. You step under the warm water and sigh in relief. You get your hair wet and wash it well. As you continue to wash yourself off, you think about how Captain Kaldor has been ruining your chances to reunite with your father.
You'd think he'd want more help. I guess he's just self centered like always. You think.
You hope that your father is doing well in the Empire. While you know that he isn't really thinking of you, you're happy knowing that he's safe.
"I'll find you, Dad. One day."
~
Once you're done, you go back to your room and get dressed. You glance across the room and see your journal where you write about your missions.
"Oh, right." You say, walking over and picking it up. "I need to write about all that."You get your pencil and lay on your bed. You flip to the next blank page in your journal. You begin to write about how you found your father's file in the Imperial database and how you got knocked out before you could find his location. While you weren't able to find where he is during the mission, writing about what happened is helping your frustration.
Someone knocks on your door.
"Yeah?" You answer.
"We'll be on Ord Mantell soon. Hunter told me to tell you." Wrecker says.
"Oh, uh, thanks."
"Anytime, Y/N!"
~
You close your journal when Tech lands the ship. As you leave you room, you decide to not bring your rifle to avoid Tech and the others teasing you.
"You look... less tired." Echo states.
"Yeah." You respond. "I took a refresher."
Omega looks up at you. "I wonder what mission we'll get!"
"I'm not sure. Hopefully I'll get a chance to fight Captain Kaldor this time."
"He sounds mean."
"He is."
You think of your father. "Not all people in the Empire are mean, though."
"Are you talking about Crosshair?"
You feel a lump in your throat. "Yes. Him."
~
"We got the job done." You say as you enter Cid's office.
"Good. I expect you to."
"You expected us to?" Omega says.
"No." Cid responds. "I expect you to get your job done every time."
"Y/N got all the intel on this." Hunter says, handing Cid the data stick.
"It only took me getting knocked unconscious and walking through a creepy forest to do so..." You mutter.
"I have another job for you guys. It's a supply run. Think you can handle it?" Cid asks.
"Yeah." Hunter replies. "We could use a break from dealing with Imperials."
You groan in frustration since this mission, you won't be able to fight Captain Kaldor.
"Oh, stop your whining." Echo says. "Besides, you don't even know where he's stationed, and it would be reckless to just go after him."
You glare at him. "You have a point."
"Of course I do."
~
Once you and the squad get more information about the mission, everyone heads back to the Marauder. It's dark outside, and you begin to feel tired. Looking around at everyone in the squad, you see that Omega is very upbeat. The others (especially Hunter) look very worn out from the stress of the mission.
"Make sure to get some sleep tonight, Y/N!" Omega says cheerfully. "You'll need your energy for our mission tomorrow."
You have to admit that Omega is very sweet.
"Yeah. I'll sleep."
Tech opens the door to the Marauder. You're the first one to walk up the stairs, being careful not to trip since it's dark. You head straight to your room and close the door. You go lay down on your bed and underneath the covers. Your body aches, and you're glad you have time to rest it.
You hear Hunter's voice outside your door.
"Nice job on the mission, Y/N. I truly do appreciate all of what you did."
"Um, thanks."
"Let me know if you need anything, alright?"
You stop yourself from saying you can handle yourself just fine and say, "Yeah. I will."
Huh. Did I just... stop myself from saying that? Weird. You think.
