Summary: You reunite with your family.
Warnings: Angst~
It's here, it's finally here: the day you've been waiting for. Your stomach churns as you imagine all of the possible ways your reunion with your family could go. And how will you explain your situation with Captain Kaldor? You don't have time to continue thinking about all of it as you watch the rest of your squad enter the cantina.
Hunter stops, staring at you from across the room. "Y/N?"
You don't know what to say. Everyone looks at Crosshair who is standing near you. Captain Kaldor is in Cid's office. He told you he didn't want to get in the middle of it all.
"Crosshair." Hunter mutters, walking closer to you and him.
Everyone else still stands by the doorway.
Hunter moves right in front of Crosshair. Raising his voice, Hunter shouts, "Do you have any idea just how much pain you've caused your own daughter? How much pain you've caused us?"
"Hunter. Don't do this in front of everyone." Crosshair says.
Hunter laughs. "Oh, and I'm supposed to listen to you? The one who left us, left your family, and we can't even blame it on your chip."
"I thought I was doing the right thing."
Hunter looks furious. His fist is clenched, and you're worried he'll punch Crosshair.
"Hunter. Don't do this." You plead.
Hunter looks back at the others, especially at Omega. She's crying. Hunter takes a few steps away from Crosshair. "We'll settle this later. Y/N, come with me to the Marauder. Now."
Crosshair looks like he wants to protest, but he stays silent. You walk with Hunter to the Marauder, leaving everyone speechless.
~
For a while, Hunter says nothing, staring at the floor as you sit across from him.
"You could've told us. We would've helped you."
You scoff. "Helped me? Every other time I tried to leave and find Crosshair, you dragged me back here."
"We were trying to protect you. I was trying to protect you."
"I was trying to find my father."
"He doesn't want to be here, Y/N."
"He's changed, Hunter. You may not see it right now, but he has. Believe me."
Hunter sighs. "I want to believe you."Tears start forming in your eyes. "Please, Hunter. He's changed. He's not perfect, but he's changed."
"He's not the father you want him to be!"
"You aren't my father either! You don't have to keep acting like it!" As you raise your voice, the ship seems to shake, and a nearby glass shatters.
Hunter remains silent, trying to control his anger. You aren't used to seeing him like this, but he's also probably not used to seeing you like this, either."You're Force-sensitive?" Hunter asks, saying it more like a statement than a question. You can hear the anger in his tone that he's desperately trying to subdue.
You sit on the floor now, crying. "I don't want to be."
"Look. We'll get this figured out. All of it." He sighs, giving you an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry for how I've acted. I just... I wasn't expecting you to come back. To be alive. And I wasn't expecting Crosshair to come with you."
He helps you up, and you head over to the exit of the Marauder. You want to tell him about Kaldor, and more about your Force-sensitivity, but you don't want to put even more on him. You leave the Marauder and go back into the cantina.
~
After talking with the rest of your squad for a while, trying to ignore all that's happened, you head over to Cid's office, making an excuse to your squad that you needed to talk with Cid. Cid leaves once you enter, giving you and Captain Kaldor some privacy.
Kaldor stands up and walks over to you. "Hey... I heard some of what happened. Are you okay?" He asks, knowing well what your answer will be.
"I'll be okay." You whisper.
Captain Kaldor wipes away the tears from your face. "I'm here. I'm always here."
You nod. "I know."
To try and lighten the mood, he asks, "Have you told your family about me? If you want to, of course."
You laugh slightly. "Not yet. Tomorrow I will. I'm sorry to keep you locked in this office for the meantime."
"It's okay. I'll find a way to sneak back to the ship and stay there. You can go talk with your family."
"Are you sure?"
He smiles. "Yeah. Don't worry about me."
You look at him once more before you leave Cid's office. You aren't completely sure what you and Kaldor are. Boyfriend and girlfriend? Or did you just share a kiss, and that's it?
~
You can't find Crosshair. You assume that he's talking with Hunter, since you can't seem to find him either. You hope they aren't being violent towards each other, but they are brothers, after all.
"Hunter said that we should take you out to dinner." Wrecker tells you.
"You don't need to do that." You respond.
"Well, we're going to. Come on." Wrecker says, walking out of the cantina.
After Omega and Echo follow him, you walk behind them, still keeping some distance between you and them. They're being nice to you, and you feel guilty. You left them to fulfill a goal that was your personal goal. You feel selfish.
Wrecker, Echo, and Omega lead you to a restaurant that you've been to in the past with the whole squad. The waiter gets you all a table and everyone sits down. You wonder what it would be like to invite Captain Kaldor to get dinner. After a little while of small talk, all of you order your food.
"You didn't miss much while you were away." Omega reassures you.
You can tell that the three of them are trying not to ask too many questions about when you were gone to try and make it less awkward.
"I hope you didn't have too much fun on missions without me." You laugh.
"We didn't do anything that exciting." Omega says. "How did you get back to Ord Mantell? Did you steal a ship?"
"Omega..." Echo mutters.
"It's okay." You say to Echo. Turning to Omega, you begin telling her about the ship you took back. "Well, the three of us took-"
"The three of us?" Wrecker asks. "You, Crosshair, and..."
You blush, realizing that you now have to come up with an excuse."That's a conversation for another day..."
