After that, I needed to cool off.
But no.
My media manager Beatrice dragged me away for interviews. The last thing I needed, but duties are duties. I stopped in front of the microphone and leaned on the barrier. I slid my Red Bull cap on and brushed my hair over my shoulder.
"Good afternoon to the new rookie on the grid. Hello, Sabrina. Lovely to see you." The reporter greeted me with a friendly smile which I returned.
"Afternoon." I replied politely.
"So first of all, I just wanted to say that I, personally, thought the penalty was quite severe." He said it with a pitiful look in his eye. "How do you feel about it?"
"Well, I'm not overly thrilled." I joked, trying to keep it light. He chuckled. "But if the stewards thought it was fair, then I won't complain. If I have to overtake four cars instead of one tomorrow, then so be it." I told him. He smiled.
"That is good to hear. I'm sure that most of the people watching at home are rooting for you. I will definitely be backing you up." He said.
"I will try not to disappoint you then." I chuckled as I undid my race suit. I was getting hot, and the suit was stuffy, so I unzipped it and tied it around my waist.
"I'm sure you won't." He reassured me. "Another question we wanted to ask you is: Do you resent Max Verstappen for reporting you?" He asked. I hesitated.
"I won't say too much on the matter because I am still quite pissed and I don't want to say something impulsive. I can't control what Max does. It's his conscience. If he isn't willing to face his mistake, I shouldn't be the one he passes the blame to." I was stopped as Beatrice gave me the signal to shut up. I quickly shut my mouth.
"Thank you so much. That's all." He told me. I nodded.
"Thanks. See you tomorrow." I waved. I blew a quick kiss to the camera and walked away.
Beatrice hurried after me. She was a small woman with round features. I had never seen her without some kind of Red Bull merchandise. Now she was wearing a Red Bull shirt and a pair of jeans. He had a raincoat tied around her middle, even though there wasn't a cloud in the sky. For english standards anyway.
"What do you think you're doing?" He demanded as she caught up with me. I paused as someone tried to take a selfie with me. I went back and took a proper one.
"Umm... going to my trailer?" I asked, continuing on my way. She hurried to keep up with my long strides. I just wanted to get away from everyone at this point.
"Don't sass me, missy." She scolded. "You can't go around saying bad things about Max. It looks bad for the team."
"I just told them the truth. You're so confusing, do you know that? You don't want me to lie, but you get mad when I tell the truth." I rolled my eyes.
"I get mad when you let your emotions control you."
"Got it. Don't feel emotions." I pretended to take notes on my hand.
"I mean, you just need to be a little bit more careful about what you say. Please don't make me tell you off again." She huffed. I stopped outside my trailer. She was breathing heavily. I raised an eyebrow.
"I promise, Bea." I told her.
"Oh, shut up. I know you have your fingers crossed." She waved her hand and walked away. I smiled. I was indeed crossing my fingers. I opened the door and climbed the few steps inside the trailer. I let out a loud sigh and dropped my cap on the counter.
