"Lan, I told you I'm fine. Stop stressing." I told him for the millionth time. We had just gotten back to his apartment from the trip, and he was fussing over me as if I were dying.
"You almost died, Clem." He said it firmly, herding me towards my bed. I groaned but didn't have the energy to protest. After I 'fell' in, we had rushed back, cutting our trip short. Lando was making a much bigger deal out of it than it was. I was a bit cold and trembly that's all. I also caught a cold. So that sucked.
"I'm fine." I told him as I lay down. He pulled the blanket over me and moved my pillow a little to make me more comfortable.
"But I've decided you need to rest, so you're not getting up for at least a day." His face was stern, but I could see the worry behind his eyes. I decided not to be difficult and just nodded.
"One day," I told him with a tired smile.
"Good." He let out a relieved sigh. "Okay, I'll go make some snacks, then we can chill and watch movies all day." He grinned. I nodded.
"Thanks Lan."
He smiled warmly at me before hurrying out of the room and into the kitchen. I listened to the shuffling of his feet as he moved around. The silence was cut by the sound of my phone. I reached over and picked her up. It was Daniel. I picked it up.
"Sabri?" His voice was thick with worry.
"Hey, it's me." I lay back again.
"How are you feeling? Are you okay?" He asked. A small smile crept onto my lips. It was so sweet; he cared so much.
"I'm okay. I promise. Just a bit tired." I reassured him. I heard a huge sigh on the other end and some soft muttering.
"Okay, jeeze, I'm doing it! Charles says hi." He informed me. I chuckled a little. I could just imagine Charles waving at the phone with his usual shining smile.
"Hey, Charles." I laughed. There was a small shuffle as Daniel handed the phone to him.
"Hey, Bri! How are you doing?" Charles asked.
"I'm good; as I was telling Daniel, I'm just a little tired." I told him.
"Is Lando with you?" Daniel's voice asked. I glanced at the door.
"Yup. Of course. He cancelled his plans, and we are going to stay in all day and watch movies." I told them. Charles said something that I didn't quite catch, but before I could, Daniel spoke again.
"Is there room for a couple more...?" He asked hesitantly. I felt a grin spread across my face.
"Of course!" I smiled. There were some hushed voices talking before Charles finally answered.
"On our way!"
"Anything you need?" Daniel asked quickly before Charles could hang up.
"Snacks. Chocolate. Always."
"Actually, I lied, we are already outside the apartment." Daniel laughed before hanging up.
I smiled to myself as I put my phone down. Just then Lando entered the room, a bowl of popcorn in one hand and his computer tucked under the other. He tilted his head a little.
"Who was that?" He asked as he came to sit on the edge of the bed.
"I think we might need to move to the couch. We have some more guests." I sat up. He went to help me, but I waved him away. This is why I hated being sick. Everyone always takes pity on me and thinks I can't do the simplest things anymore.
