"What's that?" Naomi's voice made me jump.
After a day of just talking with Layla, sitting on her couch, and eating ice cream, Friday had finally come around. I was not in the mood for a gala right now, but it was an obligation. Layla had taken me dress-shopping to cheer me up. It had partially worked. I had found the most gorgeous dress that was now laid carefully on my bed.
"Err, I think it's a dress." I said, turning to see her in my doorway. She walked in. "Please, come in." I muttered. She walked over to the bed to examine the dress more closely. I watched suspiciously as she eyed it.
"It's... perfect." She let out a sigh. "But what are you going to wear?" She looked up at me innocently.
"What?"
"I want this one. What are you going to wear? You can't go to a gala dressed in pajamas." She laughed a bit hysterically.
Calm. Deep breaths. Drop-kicking people is not always the solution.
"I'll be wearing the dress that I bought. With my money. From my job." I said calmly.
"And where is it?" She asked, looking over my shoulder, expecting to see another bag. I clenched my fists.
"In your hands." I growled. He looked down at my dress that she had picked up.
"But I told you that I wanted it. Did you not hear me?" She looked confused.
Has no one ever really said no to her?
"I don't care if you want it. Even if you had asked nicely, I wouldn't give it to you. I need it for tonight." I tried to keep my voice calm. She still looked very perplexed.
"Well, what am I going to wear?" Her lower lip trembled as she dropped the silk dress back onto the bed reluctantly. I moved it away from her.
"I'm sorry?"
"Tonight. I don't have anything to wear for tonight." She said it very clearly. I swallowed a harsh comment.
"You won't need anything." I said it calmly.
"I'm not going naked." She crossed her arms. I bit my tongue a little. She was really getting on my nerves now.
"You're not going at all." I clarified. She looked shocked.
"Are you just joking? Because I can't tell." She frowned.
"Nope. Not joking. You are not invited to come. I don't want to invite you. Do you understand, or should I say it again, slower?" I tried to pout at her, making her scowl.
"Your stupid friends are going. Why can't I? I'm your sister!" She exclaimed, putting a hand to her chest indignantly.
"If you call me that one more time, you'll be sleeping on the street. Got it?" I warned her. "Also, my friends are coming because I love them. I don't love you. They are good people. You are not. They like me. You don't, no matter how hard you try to suck up to me. You're not coming. Full stop. The end."

"God, I love limos. Don't you?"
I scowled ahead of me. I was seated next to Lando and Layla. Ann and Naomi sat on the other side. I clenched my jaw. Layla turned to me.
"I thought you put your foot down." She muttered. Naomi was busy chattering away to Ann, who was giving Lando pleading glances.
