12. Enemies
Not everything is perfect, not everyone is perfect and not everybody can like you. Throughout all the time Scott has been in the LA Children's General Hospital he has met a few people that have brought him good and bad memories. One particular person that has made his life impossible for a long time now is Andrew, every time he sees Scott or Mitch he calls them names and insults them, making both boys feel bad about themselves.
Although Scott and Mitch try not to pay attention to him, his words do get to them and they hurt. "I saw Andrew again today," Mitch said to Scott.
"I thought he got discharged a while back," Scott said confused.
"He did, but with his condition, you never know."
"True. Well...we just have to ignore or avoid him so that he doesn't bother us"
"What if he makes fun of us while we're with the others?"
"I don't know. Stand up for ourselves?"
"Maybe. I hate it when he does that."
"I know," Scott said and held Mitch close while he cried. He didn't understand why Andrew hated them so much, they weren't doing anything wrong, or...were they?
A few hours later Scott was walking around the hospital because he was bored, when he encountered Andrew, Scott was scared but he was willing to not show it.
"Oh well. Look at that! It's the faggot," Andrew mocked.
"Just leave me alone Andrew," Scott said coldly and was about to walk past Andrew but he held Scott's arm tightly.
"You're not going anywhere."
"Alright, what do you want?"
"I saw you the other day with Mitch, you guys are like, a thing now, right?"
"It's none of your business."
"I knew it. He's such a slut, why does he dress like that? He looks disgusting."
"Do. Not. Call. Him. That," Scott was getting angrier now.
"Or what? It's the truth. Faggots like you don't know how to control themselves." Meanwhile, Mitch, Kirstie, and Matt saw this and Mitch hid from Andrew. He told them to call someone because he knew it wouldn't end well.
"It's funny how you still use the same insults you have for three years," Scott said, he felt the need to stand up for himself and Mitch.
"And you haven't changed a single bit."
"Fuck off Andrew!" This caused Andrew to snap and he punched Scott square on the jaw. Andrew kept hitting him and throwing him insults while Scott tried to defend himself. Luckily a nurse came in and separated them, Mitch, Kirstie, and Matt threw themselves next to Scott and helped him stand up, taking him to his room. Before leaving Mitch saw Andrew being scolded by nurses and a security guard.
Once they were back in Scott and Matt's room a doctor started to check on him while the others waited outside, Mitch was calling Scott's parents to tell them what just happened. The doctor recommended a chest x-ray to make sure he didn't break a rib since Scott had a lot of pain in that area and diagnosed him with a mild concussion.
"I can't believe he did this, he has never started a fight like this before," Mitch said to Connie and Rick when they were able to see Scott.
"What happened?" Rick asked seriously.
"I was just walking around when I encountered Andrew and he started taunting me even though I tried to get away from him...but when he started to talk badly about Mitch I got angry and tried to defend him," Scott admitted, he felt bad for fighting, he was the kind of kid that never got into fights with people.
"It's ok, honey. We know you wouldn't try to fight on purpose," Connie said and kissed Scott's hand.
"Thanks, Mom," Scott said smiling, he loved how supportive his parents were.
"I'm glad you're ok. And thank you for defending me," Mitch said to Scott.
"I'd do anything for you."
