"hello?"

"hello, this is seoul medical hospital. is this park jongseong?" jay heard a feminine voice speak from the speaker of his phone. the man shot up from where he was sitting and anxiety instantly coursed through his body.

"y-yes this is him." he'd only ever see scenes like this in the movies and they never ended well so he feared what the person would say next.

"i'm calling about nishimura riki. it states on his file that you're his first contact in case of emergency." as soon as jay heard his brother's name his entire body froze and ice ran through his blood.

"what's happening? is he okay?" jay stammered. whatever the person would say next, he knew he was no where near prepared.

"i'm sorry, he was in an accident. i'd prefer not to disclose the information over the phone so please come here as soon as possible." jay instantly grabbed his car keys and ran out of his house.

"thank you. i'm on my way." he hung up and started the car before speeding to the hospital.

the panic and pure fear racing through the man's body was sickening.

after he fully parked into the hospital garage, he ran faster than he had ever ran in his life. "i'm here to see nishimura riki." jay panted as he spoke to the people at the front desk.

"i'm sorry there will be no visitors for him at this time." the woman politely declined.

"no, i'm his brother. the doctor called me. please, i can't waste time." jay pleaded. every second he stood there talking, was a second taken off the time to see if his little brother was even alive.

"my apologies. at the moment, he is in the icu (intensive care unit). it's on the fourth floor, someone should assist you from there."

when jay heard that riki had been sent to the icu, a part of him was happy that it technically meant he was still alive. even if the icu is for life-threatening emergencies, he was alive.

without a waste of breath, jay instantly ran to the elevator and pressed floor number four.

when he finally made it, there was another front desk. "hello i'm here for nishimura riki. i'm his brother, park jongseong-" before he could finish his sentence, a doctor walked over to him and spoke.

"hello, i hear you're park jongseong. i'm the doctor you spoke to over the phone. let's go over here and discuss." jay nodded in agreement but his hands began to shake. he had no clue what was happening. all he knew was that he wanted to see his brother.

"i unfortunately have some really bad news. in the car accident, mr. nishimura sustained some head and body injuries. we're closely monitoring his condition but it's not looking like he will wake up for a while. during the collision, he fractured three ribs and broke his arm along with his leg as well." the doctor tried to explain the situation as best as she could without causing any more stress than already visible on the male.

jay felt tears swell into his eyes while the doctor continued. "we were able to preserve some of his valuables, such as his cellphone. his room number is 407. he is very lucky to be alive, he's a strong man." the woman gave jay a pat on the back with a tight-lipped smile before walking in the opposite direction.

jay sat in the chair next to where niki laid stiff with tubes and wires connected to him. all the older male could do was stare.

he had never seen his little brother so lifeless before. it killed him inside.

the only sounds in the room was the beeping from the heart rate monitor and the sound of the breathing tube assisting the male's breathing.

no one ever warned the twenty six year old that the hardest thing in life was to watch your loved ones be close to the brink of death.

jay couldn't count the amount of tears he had shed even if he tried.

he rested his head on the bed's railing and just observed the younger's chest rise up and down.

the man began to think about when he first met the blond in front of him. he remembered how curious and full of life the boy was. all jay wanted was for that life to return to the pale body that laid in the hospital bed.

they had also informed jay that riki would need to stay in icu for at least a week so they can have an extremely close eye on him because his condition could worsen at any minute.

jay agreed and promised himself he'd stay there every day, even if riki never woke up.
