Chapter 2: The Truth
After Matthews left, Ella ran to her room and locked it where Mr. and Mrs. Strong were scolding Keris for his hurtful words, but he seemed oblivious and unresponsive.
Meanwhile, Here at Matthews mention,
Jason couldn't stop replaying the scene in his mind. He was trying to understand why his brother was saying that and whether it was true.
Mr. and Mrs. Matthews were discussing that event, "Jacob never told me about this. He always treated both of their children equally. I don't think Ella was adopted. What do you think, Indie?", said Jason's father.
Mrs. Matthew was all confused to say, "I hope whatever you are saying is true. But because of the weird behavior of their family, it makes me think that Keris is right. After all, they made us suddenly leave the house."
"I agree with you." Said Jason's father "But why we are worrying about this? It doesn't matter whether she was adopted or not all that matters is that she a part of a Strong Family."
"I agree with you but what about mother (Jacob's mother)?" said Mrs. Matthew.
"Let's not talk about it to her..." Requested Mr. Matthew
Here at Strong Mansion, it's the second day. Ella is doing nothing but sleeping in the bed with her eyes open. Suddenly, the door said, "Bang Bang...!"
Ella opens the door.
"What happened Mom?" Said Ella. Her mother replied, "Don't take Keris' words seriously. He always does things like this. He always thinks that no one likes him."
Ella suspiciously asked, "After whatever Keris did, are we going to tell the truth to Jason and his family? Anyway, How's Keris now?"
Her mother positively replied, "He is coming back to his senses. The situation is created like neither we can tell a lie nor the truth"
"Let's handle this together, Mom." Ella cheered her mother.
After this conversation, her mother leaves.
"Buzz-Buzz" Ella's phone vibrates. It was Jason's call.
Ella picked up the call and said, "Hello"
Jason hurriedly asked, "We need to talk. When are you free"
Ella answered, "I know what you are up to. Meet at Coffee Culture at five."
She hung up the phone and ran down to her parents and said, "Mom, Dad, whatever happened yesterday we can't change it. But by facing it and solving the problem, this will be the right choice. Jason's call was there. We are going to meet at 5 pm. I'll tell the truth to him. This would be a right and safer way to play with it."
Her father replied, "My child. I know how you are feeling right now. If you think this should be done, we'll consider it but take care of yourself. Don't be hard on yourself"
"Sure, Dad. Your daughter would be safe and fine." Ella said.
"Bye Mom-Dad."
She entered the coffee shop and found Jason. He was talking to someone. As soon as he noticed her presence, he ended the call and invited her to sit down.
Before she could say something, "Let's order first." Jason said.
They ordered the coffee of their choice.
"I'm sorry for whatever Keris said yesterday..." While Ella continued, Jason spoke in between, "Listen, I'm not here to learn whether you are adopted or not. I don't care. Here's the thing. Today, while I was coming to ask Dad about some consequences of the company, I heard my grandma and father about my marriage."
"Congo! Our Jason is going to get married. Are you not going to invite me? When is it? Who's the girl?" Excitedly asked Ella.
Jason replied to only her last question, "You"
The much Ella was having the excitement before has now become all surprised and confused. Her face was like she was told to attend a party in hell.
She was all frozen for about ten minutes. The coffee they ordered arrived, but she didn't move an inch. Also, there was no change in her posture, she was frozen. Jason had completed his half cup and suddenly she came to her senses.
Loudly she said, "What?" Everyone in that café was looking at her realizing that she lowered her voice and said, "What? Why me? What did I do?"
Jason didn't get surprised with Ella's behavior as he was her childhood friend. This scene wasn't new. This happened before when Jason was going abroad for his further studies.
Jason calmly said, "Ella, this is all because you were close to our family and my grandma is impressed with your dedication and work you do for your company and as your dad really helped my dad to build up our company."
Ella replied, "That I know but it doesn't mean that I'll be your wife."
Jason spoke with a straightforward answer, "See, I don't care what you think. I love someone else and I don't want to ruin my life. My family wouldn't listen to me but they will listen to you. So, you have to go and tell to my family that you are not interested in me. Our family met yesterday for this but it didn't work well because of your brother."
Ella angrily replied, "I'll consider your words but what do you mean by you'll ruin your life by marrying me."
Jason argued, "Of course. Anybody will ruin his life marrying you."
"Watch your words..." Said Ella in anger.
"I'll not. Never. As I'm right..." Jason replied mischievously.
After so much argument, "When is the meeting?"
"It's 10 am tomorrow." Completed Jason.
The next day...
The door opens with a creak. It was Matthews's mention. A warm welcome was done to a strong family. They were four of them including Keris.
Jason was accompanied by his best friend, Roger. Roger and Jason have been friends since their childhood. Therefore, Ella knew her really well. They all used to study in the same school.
After initial greetings and pleasantries, Jason's grandmother made her entrance. Her presence demanded silence from everyone present. Ella knew her grandmother was strict, but she had maintained a good relationship with her since childhood.
She came down and smiled at Ella. And she asked, "We have always seen Ella working desperately for Strong Industries and I hope, wherever she goes she will make everyone hers. Now, I ask Ella, will you marry my grandson, Jason, and make the Matthews like before?"
Everyone knew about it except Keris. He was surprised but pleased since marrying Ella meant gaining control of the company.
Jason appeared confident that Ella would decline the proposal.
All eyes were on Ella as they waited for her answer.
Ella replied, "Yes, I'm willing to marry Jason..."
Everyone was surprised...
