Chapter 17: Their Soft Side

"Are you serious? How can it be changed at the last moment?" Asked Ella in aggression.

"I'm not changing the whole plan. I'm just exchanging some people." Replied Jason.

"But why?" Interrupted Grace.

"I think if we exchange me with her, it'll be better," answered Jason.

"We aren't going there for partying. It's a mission. You can't just change because you think. We've to discuss it with the main headquarters. Don't you understand? And if you weren't happy with the plan, why did you say yes?" Asked Ella shouting to Jason. She was more worried than being angry.

"It's not about my happiness. I didn't had any problem before. This is just because I think I'm more deserving." replied Jason.

"But whom do you want to replace?" Asked Grace.

"Rory." Replied Jason. After Jason said this, there was silence for some time.

"Grace you can go. Whatever the things need to be done, I'll inform," Ella ordered. Grace obeyed and left. there were only Jason and Ella left in that room.

"What do you think? Would this save Rory? We are going there to save nineteen innocent citizens of the country not Rory," said Ella in a deep and serious voice. 

"Why can't I? I LOVE HER!" replied Jason. Listening to this, Ella got more angry.

She said, "And I love those nineteen citizens. It's not easy Jason. What do you think? They are more dangerous than your imagination. But why did you agree before?"

"I have my reasons," replied Jason.

"And I want to know those reasons," asked Ella.

Before Jason could say anything, both of their phone beeped. A message came from the head office.

The message said, "Join now."

They both sat on the table putting a laptop in front of them. They opened it and joined a video call. There was a senior who joined them. They were face-to-face live.

"I think you all need a whole team there Ella. It's not just a disco club, there's a whole mafia structure down there. And why are you taking Rory with you? Jason is better." Said the senior.

"I understand your concern, sir. But, we are going there as the club dancers and Jason can't be a dancer. About Rory, I know that she's brave. She has a lot of experience in these kind of missions." Ella explained.

"Are you sure that you both can complete this risky thing? You can add more women soldiers with you in your team." asked the senior.

"Sir, you this well that I know their plan and where they kept those nineteen citizens. it's just a time for around nine minutes and thirty-eight seconds. More people are needed in Team Crocky and Team David." replied Ella.

"Well, take care of you and your team. Jason and Ella, You've been always in my eyes that's why I made you and gave you all these responsibilities. It's high time now, we need to make this quick." Replied Jason.

"Don't worry sir, your trust will never be broken." Replied Jason. When he said this, Ella turned her face towards Jason. She was confused about how a man who is this selfish, could change a person's mind who is very hard to convince, has his eyes on him. Where she used to think that he was nothing, He might have done something that created his image as 'a great soldier'.

 And the call ends. Jason gets up from the chair and starts to walk towards the soft board where all the images and shreds of evidence are stuck, where Ella is still sitting on the chair, facing the laptop which was all blank as she was thinking something.
