It's been a while since I've been on a plane, meaning one thing. How much I forgot that I'm terrified of heights. Especially on a plane.
As the plane was already in the air, I still held onto the arms of my seat, gripping it tightly as my knuckles were starting to turn white. I'm in a window seat at this moment, as my fiancée is in the back of the plane, probably sleeping.
I let out a deep exhale as I finally loosened my grip on the arms connected to both sides of my seat, letting the color return to my hands. I relaxed my body, rolling my shoulders up, back, down, and then forward. I did this repeatedly until I felt calm enough to stop.
I pulled out my wireless earbud case from my pocket and opened the top. I removed the two wireless earbuds that lay in their spots of their charging station that I keep in my pocket and inserted them into my ears.
Currently, it's just our group on this flight. We rented this whole plane for ourselves so we're all spread out.
Pulled out my phone from my back pocket and opened Apple Music, I pressed the downloaded option and went to my playlists that I have downloaded. I scrolled through them and finally picked one. I looked around at my surroundings, looking at the rest of the group. They were all asleep, or they had headphones in.
I grabbed my mini backpack and stood up, sliding out from the row of seats and walking up the lane and right into first class. I picked a random seat and got comfortable. Once I was at the level of relaxation and comfort I had so hopefully desired, or at least, close enough, I looked back at my phone and pressed the shuffle option, letting the music play into my ears. I set the volume to max as a rock cover of "Lovely" originally sung by Billie Eillish and Khalid, this time being sung by Lauren Babic featuring Seraphim. This is one of my favorite versions of this song. As I also love the original, this cover just hits differently.
I set my phone in the cup holder next to me and pulled my bag onto my lap. I pulled the zipper, left the bag and pulled out a book. I smiled as I looked at the cover, re-reading the title even though I've already started it. This would be Colleen Hoover's novel, and it is really good. Confess is a very well written story from what I've read so far, and I'm only on chapter two!
I opened the book and went to the page I had left off from, removing my bookmark from it and placing it on the seat, in between my legs. I begin reading the first word and read many more from that, going into a fictional world, imagining the characters, the events, the setting, and the conflict. The characters' appearances, their voices, and every tiny detail they have of them are being pictured in my wild imagination. My eyes move every word, and I read away.
I slept through the whole flight. Like, I'm not kidding. I woke up to Joseph leaning in my face, his warm breath going on my skin.
I looked at him and chuckled, "Hey." I mumbled.
He smiled at me and I felt my body get lifted up and held close to a warm strong body. One of my hands pressed against his body and my fingers grasped his shirt lightly. My eyes closed once again and I drifted back to sleep.
It's been about three days now since we arrived. We are renting a four bedroom apartment. Two people per room. Me and Joseph, Melody and Henry, Daryl and Riley, then Astrid gets her own room. Tonight was the night of our bachelor and bachelorette parties.
The ticket payment for our concert apparently didn't go through, so we rented out an entire club. Just for me and the girls. Before that, we're getting tattoos. The boys are going to a bar, shooting range, ax throwing place and then a food truck place.
I slid on the dress I just bought to wear tonight. I fixed it and checked myself out in a full size mirror. It was a black bodycon dress with a white little bow on the chest area and spaghetti straps. I wore black high heel boots. They went up about three feet, making me from 5 '1 to 5'4, which I wish was my height without heels, but we don't get everything we wish for. They had black buckles as a decoration, which I had changed to make them go right around my ankle. A zipper in the back to be able to remove or put them on. I pulled my hair into a bit of a messy bun but made sure to make it look a little neat so it would look good. A few strands loose and hanging out, with a strand hanging over my ears on each side. I put on some black diamond studs and put on a silver sparkly choker around my collar. I applied some red lipstick and rubbed my lips against each other before blowing an air kiss to my own reflection. I'm ready. I grabbed my clutch and made sure I had everything I needed in it. My gun, knife, wallet, phone, emergency makeup bag, pepper spray, and tranquilizer.
What? I'm not going to be kidnapped again, and I'm making sure of it. Especially tonight. The only other people that will be in the club tonight will be the waiters, bartenders, security and the building owner. I can't be too careful, right?
I was far from right.
A folded piece of paper was in my purse along with all my other items, just laying against my phone. I stuck my hand in the bag and pulled out the paper and unfolded it. There was something written inside.
"Watch your back. Sometimes people aren't who they seem... even the ones you love..." -☓Ø☓Ø
