Chapter 4: A Rare Break

When An Nuo got up early in the morning, she felt extremely exhausted. It was probably because of how yesterday's dream came to a sudden end. Fortunately, today was Saturday, so she could take it easy.

Before she could close her eyes and go back to sleep, her cell phone that was close by started to ring. However, she felt so tired that she didn't even want to move a finger. The caller was fighting against her, persistently making one phone call after another.

An Nuo sighed and answered the phone, "Hello."

"What are you doing, An Nuo? You can't still be sleeping after taking forever to answer the phone! It's the weekend, how can you waste it in bed?" An Nuo instinctively felt apprehension when she heard Xia Qiuyi say this. Xia Qiuyi didn't wait for her to respond and immediately continued, "At ten o'clock, I'll see you at our usual place when we went to school. If you dare to be late, then you'll get my Pegasus Meteor Fist! I'm hanging up now. Hurry up and get ready!"

Xia Qiuyi was always impatient. An Nuo did not say anything, and Xia Qiuyi ended the call as if she had lost a hot potato. An Nuo smiled helplessly and thought, 'forget it, what she said is right. I can't waste my time doing nothing.' This makes her relax a bit.

An Nuo was quite lucky. Although it was her day off, traffic was not very congested, and she arrived at the place a little early. It was the dessert shop that she and Xia Qiuyi used to go to a lot. They used to get over and binge when they felt a lot of pressure. She looked out of the window, and the campus was filled with youthful and energetic college students playing around. An Nuo felt a yearning feeling in her heart. To be honest, she had never returned to this school since graduation, and sometimes, when she looked back on these four years, her memories were hazy. The best thing that happened here was that she met the best friend of her life—Xia Qiuyi.

She was staring out of the window in a daze when someone suddenly gave her a strong pat on the shoulder. She turned around, and Xia Qiuyi was smiling innocently.

After ordering two desserts for An Nuo and herself, Xia Qiuyi became serious. An Nuo didn't understand what was going on, she held Xia Qiuyi's hand out of reflex. It looked like Xia Qiuyi was about to die, and An Nuo wanted her to live.

Xia Qiuyi burst out laughing when she saw An Nuo's serious face. She pinched An Nuo's cheek and said, "Look at how silly you are. I'm not thinking of doing anything bad again. I came here today to tell you the good news." She pretended to be mysterious and lowered her voice, "I have a boyfriend now."

"Really? Congratulations." An Nuo breathed a sigh of relief instantly. She thought it was something serious, and then Xia Qiuyi told her how they met, got to know each other, and fell in love.

After graduation, Xia Qiuyi did not choose to work like An Nuo. She was going to take the postgraduate entrance exam, so she spent most of her time in the library. The school library was short on seats, and Xia Qiuyi always got up early to rush in and grab a seat. She usually chose a two person table on the other side of the staircase. Although it was cold, not a lot of people chose it. That day, she still sat there as she usually did, and then she was pulled into a hug. She said that Wei Ming, who happened to catch a cold at that time, also chose this spot and sat across from her. Xia Qiuyi was always focused on studying until she accidentally threw her pen away because she was thinking too hard about a difficult problem, and it happened to fall under Wei Ming's seat. While she was in a dilemma and didn't know if she should climb under the table to pick it up, Wei Ming helped her pick it up. At that time, she felt that Wei Ming had saved her like an angel emitting holy light, but this was not the main reason why Xia Qiuyi decided to pursue Wei Ming. When he returned the pen, Xia Qiuyi wanted to thank him but was attracted by his beautiful eyes. She felt like she had lost her soul to Wei Ming at that moment. "Do you know how beautiful Wei Ming's eyes are? When I saw those eyes, I made a decision and I had to make him my boyfriend!"

Before Xia Qiuyi could speak about the details of pursuing Wei Ming, she suddenly happily waved her hand and said, "Wei Ming, this way!"

An Nuo turned around and  saw two tall boys walking towards them, both of whom were extremely handsome. One was slightly more delicate, with fair skin and beautiful phoenix eyes. He also wore a pair of gold rimmed glasses, with a tall nose bridge and a cold appearance. The other guy was more sporty. He had a youthful and naive appearance, as well as innocent drooping eyes. This was probably what people called a puppy.

An Nuo was amazed by their handsomeness when  they sat next to them. "This is Wei Ming." Xia Qiuyi pointed to the cold looking person next to her. Wei Ming then extended his hand and politely shook An Nuo's hand. "Hello, my name is Wei Ming."

His eyes were indeed very beautiful. It was seemingly indifferent inside, yet still full of spirit.

"And the one sitting next to you is Gu Nanke. He's a sophomore and Wei Ming's cousin." As she spoke, Xia Qiuyi gave An Nuo a suggestive look. After being with Xia Qiuyi for a long time, An Nuo knew what she was trying to hint at. Although she was 24 years old, she didn't really have any motive to date. She just smiled and didn't say anything.

However, Wei Ming and Gu Nanke seemed unaware of the communication between them. "Hello, my name is Gu Nanke." Gu Nanke looked short. With his smile, An Nuo felt like he was a child. "I've heard your name from Sister Qiuyi. Can I also call you, Sister? Sister An Nuo?"

"Yeah, of course you can," An Nuo replied with a friendly smile.

Their conversation was mainly led by Xia Qiuyi and Gu Nanke because Wei Ming was a quiet person and An Nuo being introverted in front of unfamiliar people. The two of them hit it off quite well, so they chatted a lot. Overall, the atmosphere was quite relaxed and pleasant.

"By the way, An Nuo, our school has a small music festival tomorrow. Do you want to go?" Xia Qiuyi suddenly turned the topic to An Nuo. "It's a Sunday tomorrow, and the school has invested a lot into this event. There are some mysterious guests coming."

"Okay," An Nuo agreed, but unexpectedly, Xia Qiuyi also set up a trap for her.

"Nanke, could you please pick up An Nuo tomorrow? She always likes to lie in bed all day, so you should call her and ask her to get up."

"Okay." As An Nuo looked at Xia Qiuyi's playful expression and Gu Nanke's cheerful promise, she suddenly felt like a little white rabbit lost in the forest, unaware of any danger ahead waiting for her.
