Hotch was almost to the police station when his phone rang, it was Rossi.
"David what is it?"
"Karofsky...he's here, along with his pal Azimio."
"What? They turned themselves in, why?"
"Your guess is as good as mine."
"I'm pulling into the station now; I'll see you inside."
Karofsky sat in the interrogation area, when Hotch walked inside and took a seat across from him.
"Why did you do it Dave?"
"He said he'd pay us for it. We thought it was harmless, but it wasn't. I may not like Kurt very much, but I'd never actually kill him."
"No, you just threatened his life!"
"Look I know what I did to Kurt was messed up."
"Messed up? Dave, you threatened to kill him if he told anyone you were bullying him!" Hotch exclaimed then sat down across from Karofsky.
"Why do you care?"
Karofsky looked up, "What?"
"Why do you care? You're the one that left the cell phone right?" Hotch asked, Karofsky looked down avoiding eye contact.
"What did you do Karofsky? What did you do that made Kurt so afraid of you? That he had to transfer schools?"
"I can't tell you..." Karofsky said, looking down at the table scratching his nails.
"Dave, do you know what I am?" Hotch asked, Karofsky shrugged.
"FBI."
"Yes, but I'm also in the Behavioral Analysis Unit."
"The what?"
"It means I read human behavior. You scratch at your nails when you're nervous, and you won't look me in the eye. Which tells me you're lying about something."
"I'm not lying...well not entirely."
"Tell the truth Dave, and we'll tell the court you cooperated and perhaps we can have your sentence reduced."
"Azimio too? He needed the money. That was the only reason he agreed to it."
"We'll see what we can do."
Karofsky took a deep breath and looked at Hotch.
"I didn't threaten Kurt because I was bullying him. That's just what Kurt said..."
"What was the real reason, Dave?"
"I—I kissed him in the boy's locker room. I almost kissed him again, but he shoved me away. I was worried what would happen if anyone found out, so I told him that I would kill him if he told anyone...please don't tell anyone."
"I won't."
"Thank you."
"Who hired you, Dave?"
"I don't know who he is...only his initials. W.A."
Hotch stood up and walked out of the room and called Garcia.
"Speak now or forever hold your peace!"
"Garcia, I need you to run all names in Ohio with initials W.A."
"Okay give me a minute...okay that's a lot of names."
"How many is a lot?"
"24"
"What about Lima, Ohio?" Rossi asked.
"Down to 5"
"Wait a minute..." Prentiss said, "Reid said that he believed that the real target was Blaine, not Kurt."
"Garcia, how many names are in Westerville, Ohio?" Rossi asked.
"Only one...William Anderson."
"Blaine's father." JJ gasped.
"It says here that he grew up in a very religious family, when he was a child...oh god."
"What?" Prentiss asked.
"He was sent to the hospital when his father beat him...after he asked if two boys could be together, telling him that it's wrong."
"Growing up in a family with those beliefs probably had him believe the same thing." Rossi said.
"And when Blaine came out as gay, it probably sent him over the edge." Prentiss said.
"That was his stressor." Hotch said.
"We need to call Reid and Morgan." Rossi said.
"One step ahead of you David." Hotch said and put his phone to his ear.
"Reid, William Anderson is the unsub---we'll be right there!" Hotch quickly hung up.
"Hotch what's going on?" Prentiss asked.
"William is in the room with Kurt."
