Awkward.

The situation Y/N found herself in was truly indescribable—beyond words. As she sat there, surrounded by the clattering sound of chopsticks scraping against bowls most awkwardly, her eyes remained lowered in an attempt to avoid the intense scrutiny she felt emanating from those around her. Filled with unease and restlessness, she couldn't help but fidget in her seat, desperately longing for an escape from the heavy, penetrating gazes that seemed to bear down on her.

Completely overwhelmed, she finally whisked her head to look up.

"Is there something wrong?" She asked lowly meeting Hendery's eyes. His eyes widened for a brief second before he shook his head, his ear turning red at the realisation of being caught.

But it was not only him who was staring, rather everyone around her seemed kind of suspicious and muttering among themselves as if she was not sitting there.

Y/N turned her head towards Karina who also had baffled expressions as Hendery. Karina quickly averted her eyes looking down at her plate as if she was gawking at Y/N since the moment she stepped into the dining hall.

Y/N let out a heavy sigh, her appetite was gone before her eyes wandered over the empty seat to her left.

Taeyong skipped breakfast. Again. Like he had been skipping meals ever since that day....or was it her he was ignoring? Y/N continued looking at the empty head seat again. The more she stared at it, the more it bothered her.

"Finish your food," Renjun muttered adding more veggies to her plate. Y/N swallowed hard. There was a strange shift in the atmosphere ever since she got her memories back. This world seemed strange and different like she was never a part of it. Something didn't feel right. Even when she should be glad she regained her memories, something in her still wanted to remain oblivious to her past. She wanted to pretend nothing was holding her back. Yet why did it feel like a piece of her was missing? What was so good about even remembering her past?

It only brought her more pain, shame...and fear of loneliness.

She couldn't help but keep thinking about men whom she should hate with her guts. But she couldn't. Simply because she was tired of hating....or simply because she didn't understand what she wanted anymore. It all felt empty within, like her soul was being ripped apart, and there was a dark cloud of misery lurking over her head.

Strangely, she didn't even know what she was to do about Taeyong either. His confession took her off guard, but it didn't startle her a bit. She was so used to men treating her like an object of desire that it did not baffle her to realise Taeyong expected something from her in return for saving her.

Y/N was confused.

Lee Ji-hoon.

Her heart skipped a beat. Why didn't she notice the warning signs before? Thinking about Jihoon took her back to her childhood. Where she was once a carefree and happy soul.

It was suffocating. Everything felt too much to ingest.

'Don't you remember me, Y/N?'

Y/N suddenly froze. Now fully understand why Woozi asked her this when they visited her grandmother. She couldn't help but remember the pain in his voice. So many questions swarming in her head wildly tearing her consciousness. The frustration, the anger, the pain but most importantly—the numbness in her chest.

But what hurt the most knowing the only person she ever wanted to rely on was the one who stood at her side and watched her life become a living nightmare. All his promises were lies. The man she thought she could trust was the one who let his friends rape her, have their way with her, hurt her, rip her dignity apart. Kill the innocence inside her.
