Thick clouds were moving across the sky, carrying the smell of soon-to-be rain and shelter for Daki and me from the sun as we walked through the coniferous mountain forest, looking for something...someone to devour.
I kept looking up, trying to see the sun through the clouds.
But they were so thick that even the sun's shade was not visible in them.
I kept thinking that Muzan-sama had recently overcame the sun.
"-I still can't believe that he can now, though not completely, and only for not very long periods of time, as he said, but still— to be under it!" I thought, looking somewhere in the clouds.
"-But if the demon girl he ate was able to completely overcome it... then it will soon be possible for other demons. For me..."
And then I almost screamed as I felt something hurt in my head...
"-I meant for Muzan-sama, and for me!"
The headache went away immediately.
"-Is something wrong, Y/n-chan?" Daki suddenly turned to me.
"-No, I'm alright! I just stepped on a branch." I quickly denied.
And it wasn't a lie— a small, dry pine branch was lying under me.
What was not true, was that I had stepped on it.
"-All right, then!" Daki smiled, and we continued on our way.
We kept running and running through what seemed like an endless cloudy pine forest, with the morning fog, when Daki suddenly stopped in mid-stride and her eyes started darting back and forth as she became alert.
She put her finger to her lips, telling me that she had detected someone's presence nearby, so we should be quiet.
But I had already felt it, too— the presence of demon slayers in the air nearby.
How did I know that it was their presence and not ordinary people?
Their smell. The odour of demon slayers is always easy to distinguish— they still smell the blood of the demons they slaid when they come back from a mission at night. That's because it hasn't disappear in the sun yet.
I was glad— at last I could have a good meal, and with Daki.
She turned to me and winked conspiratorially.
I returned it with a little smile.
And in a second, we were already off and running towards the scent of these demon slayers in a race.

It was pouring outside— rain drumming on the leaves of the trees, on the tiles of the stone path as I flew into the mansion, catching my breath at the entrance.
I closed the door behind me, keeping the rain and cold wind out, and headed for the stairs.
I was soaked to the skin, literally dripping with raindrops, my hair was completely disheveled, but I was happy.
Daki and I had eaten a good meal— each of us each devoured 3 demon slayers (and we split another one), and we had a good time.
And then it started to rain and we said goodbye and quickly ran away from the thunderstorm: Daki to the Red Light District, I— here.
Finally, I got to my room, and closing the shoji door behind me, I went in.
I quickly took off my wet clothes and went to the closet to pick out new ones.
My eyes were running back and forth, thinking about what I wanted to wear now, and then my eyes landed on a beautiful y/c kimono with petal patterns.
So I picked it up right away.
After a while, I finally tied it on, and I was standing in front of the mirror, combing my hair.
Although it was already dry, it had gotten tangled from the wind when I ran so fast, so I was very careful to comb it.
Finally, I succeeded, and I looked at myself in the doorway, adjusting my shiny y/c strands.
"-What a beauty..." I smiled proudly to myself in the mirror, admiring how gorgeous my now beautifully combed hair was.
But then I got bored— I had nothing to do, and the rain was still pouring down, so I decided to go downstairs to see if anyone else was now in the estate.
I left the room and quickly went down the stairs, heading for the common room, hoping to find someone there.
But when I got to the living room, there was no one there.
The room, barely lit by the light from the street, which was squeezing through the shoji doors leading to the zen garden, was now empty.
I sighed, and was ready to go back upstairs, when something made me freeze.
"-Y/n, come here."
It was Muzan-sama's voice.
My heart beat a little faster, and I jumped up and hurried to the room from which the familiar voice was coming.
I opened the shoji door of big dim-lighted room, and immediately bowed low.
But still, out of the corner of my eye, I could see him sitting in a chair, reading a book.
"-Greetings, my lord. Good n..." I immediately said, looking at the floor.
"-I mean, good morning!" I smiled to the floor, trying to release tension, and feeling my cheeks slowly becoming flushed. But I heard quiet chuckle in response
"-Good morning, Y/n." he replied softly, and I heard the sound of a book being put down.
"-Come in, dear, let's talk a little."Thanks for reading this chapter! If you enjoyed it don't forget to like and leave comment! It means world to me!Sending lots of love to y'all, stay safe!!
