Aaron POV
He arrived at Averie's house five minutes early. And now he was regretting that decision. Averie greeted him with a big smile and way too much makeup. Another thing he liked about Makaylah. She didn't wear makeup, making her ten times prettier. As soon as Averie opened the door she started twirling her hair and biting her lip again. She led him to the living room. Aaron sat down on a couch and Averie sat on the one opposite of him. Aaron shifted, but Averie just stared and giggled. It went on like that for ten minutes.
As soon as the doorbell rang, Aaron sprang up from the couch. "I'll get it." He said, and quickly hurried out of there. Averie just nodded and kept on smiling weirdly. Aaron made his way towards the door, wanting to spend as much time as he could away from Averie. When he opened the door, he saw three people. Makaylah, Alex, and Connor. Back in seventh grade, that whole year Aaron only spent with Averie, not realizing he was ignoring Makaylah. During that time, Alex and Connor had become like brothers to Makaylah, and didn't approve when Aaron came back to Makaylah. Before that, though, Aaron and Connor used to be best friends. But now, he's only making sure no one hurts Makaylah.
When Aaron saw Makaylah, he picked her up and spun her around. Her laughter sound like tiny bells. When he set her down, Alex shot him a disapproving look. Did he mention Alex never liked him. They walked in and sat down in the living room. They chatted until they heard the doorbell ring again. Makaylah went to go grab the door and came back with Tyler and Jack. Jack is staring at Makaylah, and Tyler is telling her one of his jokes, making her laugh again. He could feel his heart trying to break out of his chest and punch Jack. He had hurt Makaylah many times before, and she had made it clear to him that she didn't like him like that. But Jack didn't listen.
Then Tyler piped up "Truth or Dare?"
Everyone said yes except Connor and Alex, So we played anyways. We arranged ourselves in a circle and started playing. We established the rules being you have to answer every truth, but if you didn't answer a dare, they had to take off a article of clothing.
"So, Aaron, truth or dare." Averie said
