Kanade and Otonashi followed the sidewalk towards the track. They both walked silently without saying a single word. Kanade was walking while focusing her gaze at the ground.

(I've got to say something to break the ice.. we can't possibly just spend our last moments together in silence.)

Otonashi thought to him self.

"Hey.. Kanade?"

Kanade turned to face Otonashi.

"Yes?"

Otonashi blushed.

(Ughh.. she's so cute! Soft wisps of that white hair swept past an ear and caressed the skin of her neck, jaw, cheeks and around her rather beautiful, deep eyes.. She's like a literal work of art! We're alone too.. anything could go down..)

"Why do you have that look on your face?" Kanade asked.

"Huh? Oh! N-no reason.."

Kanade had a confused expression.

"You had a question to ask me..?"

"Oh, yeah.. do you really think the others were reincarnated?"
Otonashi asked.

Kanade returned her gaze back to the ground and fell silent for a moment. She let out a small sigh.

"Even if they did.. we're not sure if they became a human or animal. We don't even know if they were even reincarnated... maybe they were sent to Heaven.. if there is one.. I just hope that wherever they are, they are alright."

(Is there a god?) Otonashi asked himself.

He then realized that Kanade's eyes were full of tears. Otonashi grabbed a hold of Kanade's hand. She looks up at Otonashi and smiles.

"Otonashi.."

"I'm sure they are fine."

Kanade wipes away her tears.

"Yeah!"

(I sure hope they are..)

Kanade and Otonashi continue walking towards the track, holding hands the entire way.

MOMENTS LATER

After what felt like hours of walking, they finally reached the bleachers of the track. Kanade smiled and blushed. Otonashi immediately noticed this.

"What's up?" He asked.

"Well.."

Kanade looks down at the intertwined hands of her own and Otonashi's.

"We're here at the track.. but we're still holding hands..."

Otonashi's face turned bright red in embarrassment. He releases his grip of her hand and looks away.

"I-I'm sorry! I just got.. comfortable I guess.."

Kanade tilts her head a little.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked.

(It means I loved the feeling of your warm, soft hand.)

"It's nothing." He replies.

It was sunset. They watched with an unwavering gaze, as a fiery red orb of light slowly sank beneath the horizon, and threads of light lingered in the sky, mingling with the rolling clouds.

(Come on Otonashi, tell her how you truly feel! The setting is perfect and the time seems about right. This almost feels like something out of a anime.. Okay.. well, here I go!)

"Kanade, I-"

"Hey, Otonashi?"

Kanade unknowingly interrupts Otonashi.
