It was dark.
A limitless void had surrounded me.
I was running, but I didn't know from who or what.
I ran harder as what felt like someone's breath hit the back of my neck.
The hairs on my arms stood tall.
I was too scared to turn around, too scared to find out.
Not that I could see anyway.
All that was visible was a dim light that seemed to get brighter the closer, I thought, I got.
It felt like I was running for hours.
In truth, I didn't even know how I got there.
I didn't know anything.
I still couldn't see anything around me, just the source of light that I couldn't tell the distance of.
At least until I decided to try and reach for it.
All of a sudden it was right in front of me.
As I reached out to touch it, I felt something like a frozen hand grab ahold of my ankle.
The light turned out to be some kind of circular tunnel.
I hooked my fingers around the opening and then...
The world turned upside down.
I was dangling and holding on as hard as I could.
The thing holding onto my ankle started pulling.
Within what felt like seconds, I lost my grip.
Down I went into the abyss.
But not alone.
