Nyella:2 weeks later
I was currently at work folding up clothes. I had one airpod in while i listened to music since Ms. Lana didn't mind.
"Minnie baby when you done with that do me a favor and go next door to get our food. I called it in. Oxtails with macaroni and rice no beans right?" She asked.
"Awww you remembered? Yes that's right. I'm almost done so Ill head over there soon." I said smiling.
After i got done folding clothes i walked to the Jamaican place that was 3 doors down from us.
I got our food and walked back to the store and locked the door.
"I got the food!" I called out.
I walked to the back and sat at the table and Mrs. Lana came out her office with two waters.
She prayed over the food and we began eating and talking.
"You talked to that son of mine?" She asked.
"Yes he called me this morning and told me he got me an Uber." I said.
"Ohh he can call you but not his mama. He better not ask me to cook for his ass. I know that." She said making me laugh.
"I'm surprised he still so busy. He said he got switched over back to min." I said.
"June ass be so busy with that other shit if you know what i mean." She said rolling her eyes.
"You ever tried to talk him out of it?" I asked.
"Have i? Talked til i turned blue. I had to realize he grown and he gone do what he wanna do no matter what anybody got to say. All i can do is pray for him and his safety." She said shaking her head.
"Yeah i understand. Ion know i think that life become like an addiction. My bestfriends were like in that type of stuff heavy when we grew up. I had to beg them to stay out of that. They would for a little while then go right back." I said
"And i hate that. All these babies and young men roped into that life. They giving they self a death sentence or a prison sentence before they can even live they life forreal." She said.
"Exactly. And i get that maybe some of them had no choice but to get involved with that but i also think majority of them do it cause they see the next person doing it. Especially since we in a social media era. That's all they see on social media so that's what they think cool i guess." I said.
"Social media gone be the death of us." She said.
"Definitely. That's why i have to separate the internet from reality cause it's toxic forreal. You start comparing yoself to the next person, trynna do what you see other people do. It's like you can't be you forreal. It'll taint yo mind if you let it." I said.
